And the great thing is that Roobroeck isn't just a guy who's bigger than everyone and dominates due to size. He's legitimately great on his own. His height isn't that noticable in his game.
Watched as much YouTube tape of him as I could. Reminds me a lot of Eric Staal. Big body for his age, not super flashy but just makes the right play every time. Very high IQ for his age.

Haha I found a 2020 post on the r/hockey discord talking about Roobroeck being the star of 2026. I thought I discovered him late last year but no I knew about the kid since 2020 and just forgot.

he wont be getting it
Disagree, I think he's shown he can not only be a great player but is strong enough to handle himself being younger, it won't be like Savoie where he gets manhandled because he's too small. I think for Roobroeck I'd lean on him getting Exceptional Status.

That and kids can now pull the NCAA card like Veleno did.

Kid has the tools.
Size, will play with a little edge, smart and good skills.
Needs to continue to work on skating (no biggie) but there is alot to like.
Exceptional status.....who knows but it wouldn't surprise me.
He is set up well here in London as the local skills n strength group is fantastic. They work with a bunch of players from the NHL, Jr's, and minor hockey. TPH, Blais n the crew have had alot of success.

thats fine, im just letting you know that he will not get it, i was told hockey canada has opted not to let any of the three that applied to move forward.

It's already decided? Would not have excepted that quickly a decision on the three applications but I guess it really does take a lot to get EC. Either way, if Roobroeck isn't getting EC he'll go 1st overall in the OHL Draft.

they applied back in december and the draft is in a month. they pretty much have no time left.

No confirmation one way or another yet as to whether exceptional status will be granted to him or Moore as well as Misa. There’s been no precedent for multiple players to be granted ES by the same CHL league in the same year at this point…but if Misa deserved it (and I believe he did) Roobroeck certainly does as well!

Small article from the World Selects in Nashville. Roobroeck ended up with 28 points in the tournament, blowing away the record set by Pool Party with 21. This is a pretty good tournament and traditionally has some of the top players up and coming.

Recent 1st overall and Exceptional Status WHL prospect, Gavin McKenna was second in scoring with 21 points.

Hard to believe Roobroeck wasn't granted Exceptional Status. He is about to destroy the Alliance.

I know it's very early, but who do you guys think is the better prospect, Misa or Roobroeck?
I'm a pure stat watcher here and have seen nothing beyond what little highlights there are on Youtube, so I can't respond on this.

I will say that Roobroeck at 6'2 and 180 lbs....and still 14 years old is damn impressive. Assuming he grows another couple of inches, he is going to be a must watch prospect in the coming years. I mean he completely destroyed the 15U WSI scoring record.

Yeah imo that really made up for the OHL Cup struggles. Him and McKenna destroyed that tournament, especially Roobroeck.

It's weird, all of a sudden he's fallen this off-season. All the scouting guys I follow have completely dropped him and have Moore and McKenna higher, mostly because of his OHL cup performance, which is a bit unfair as he was one of the youngest players there.

I personally haven’t heard tell of the such. From what I have seen myself and understand from some of my friends - those 4 would be ranked as such:

1/2: Misa/Roobroeck (interchangeable)
3: Moore
4: McKenna

Moore/McKenna are extremely close to one another - and the gap between them and Moore/Roobroeck is relatively close to where Moore may usurp Roobroeck as #1 overall in the 2023 OHL draft.

Roobroeck didn’t get ES partly because of his pedestiran OHL cup performance and that the OHL will already have him for at least 3 years anyway since he is a late birthday.

That’s just my understanding of it as of now. Things can and will change.

I mean in terms of 2026 rankings, I'm seeing Moore and McKenna suddenly higher. McKenna I get because CHL bias but Roobroeck seemingly going down the rankings after an amazing WSI is surprising to me.

Agreed, if people are down on Roobroeck then it is confusing as you said. Doesn’t make too much sense.

William Moore is a 2025 eligible fwiw.

For me :

1 Roobroeck
2 McKenna
3 Misa
4 Moore

Without forgetting Lecompte and Morin.

Generation Canada 2007 extremely talented. Rivals 2005. Maybe better.

2006 really wasn't great, however, like 2004. It really depends on the year.

So ok someone will tell me: look at Celebrini, Catton, Spence, Gavin... Yes I know. It's much less strong in Bantam/Midget.
