F Rodion Amirov (2020, 15th, TOR) - tragically passed away due to brain tumor 8/14/23

Wasn't he a healthy scratch today? Bad timing on his agents part.
Salavat players are returning from the COVID quarantine in bunches. Don't interpret too much into coaches giving him a game off to give the other guys some opportunity to get back on track. The team has also won a tough game being down 0:2 against the best team in the East if not the league they pulled out a 4:3 SO victory.

And then again, how is it anything, good or bad? His agent just said the right thing.

I don't disagree with him not needing to go to the AHL, and maybe it's a bad translation, but what the agent needs shouldn't matter at all it should be about what the player needs, and if that's to develop in Russia that's fine.
It's a figure of speech hinting his needs as an agent are in this case coherent with those of the player develoment.

I for my part for all the understandable love for the NHL in NA don't care about any Toronto wins. What I do care about is a possibility of getting a future russian NT player out of a prospect. At this point that probably also means the player playing in the NHL someday. But in the NHL only. Too many Russians vanish from the screen after going to NA too early and becoming AHLers. That is what the agent was hinting at.

On the leafs board someone mentioned his play time has dropped to next to nothing now.
Would staying in the K still be worth it?
Anyone can chime in as to why his mins.dropped?
Salavat core players are returning from the COVID quarantine. It's as simple as that. For all the ususal hype around 1st round prospects he is obviously not on their level yet. IIRC a former Leaf Soshnikov scored the SO winner and had an assist yesterday in a big game in which Amirov was scratched to give guys returning more time.

In Amirov's case VHL might be a viable option for stretches. The team is loaded with forwards. On the other hand he is the only 19 year old forward who is getting KHL action.

Out of lineup today as well. I think he could well be there instead of Bashkirov / Khokhryakov. It's possible they want to send him to the VHL for a few games, but since Toros isn't playing until the 26th, they might as well keep him with the big club for the road trip (he was training with the rest of the players yesterday). Ufa has one more game on the 21st before returning home.

CHL! Now that’s funny. Not sure we will even have a season. Why did Leafs draft mostly all Europeans?
Because they are playing hockey this year.

I don't think he was being serious. Nobody holds Amirovs CHL rights and he would only be eligible if he was drafted in the 2021 CHL import draft... as an overage.
Definitely wasn't being serious. I know that @Atas2000 has a disdain for the CHL so was just poking some fun. Atas knows a ton about Russian prospects and I like to pick his brain.
