What's the story here? Is he still out with an injury? Is he headed to Grand Rapids when he comes back?

The latest I could dig up was from a couple weeks ago, and that was that he was rehabbing his sprained ankle with Grand Rapids of the AHL. He doesn't have a pro contract though so I don't know where he'll play. Hopefully someone can shed some more light on this with an update.

He apparently signed an ELC, according to Detroit's social media.

Somebody help me here... Is he a grind line type? Because I guess I'm not getting throwing an ELC at a guy with his current production. But I admittedly know nothing about him.

Woohoo! Congrats Becher. Shame he got hurt to start his pro career. I expect his production to go up.

No. Becher is skilled playmaker. His current production can be explained with the fact that this is his 1st pro season and he was injured through off-season. So he missed off-season training and that usually ruins the entire season. Give some time but perhaps confidence boosting stint in Toledo would help.

Yeah, he's definitely more of a scorer than a grinder. He actually played vs men back in Czechia but that was long ago and obviously on wider European ice. AHL is certainly quite a challenge for him coming off such an injury. Props to the Redwings for giving him some adjustment time. I thought he was drafted way too early but he certainly has some interesting tools. Hope he's gonna make it.

I think this is more small sample size syndrome. Surprised some posters don't know who he is and are just looking at this statline:

He's 20 today. He's coming off injury. It was a setback.

While missing this:

He had 115 points in 63 WHL games last year including playoffs.

Those are all last season before his injury as a teenager. Amongst his peers, he's been above and beyond.

He just got injured and stalled. Maybe he never makes it but this was a very good pick by the Wing's. 2 years and he may be joining the team. He's also responbible defensively.

My prediction 2 years out:

2025 sees an uptick in AHL scoring for rest of season
2025/26 seems him doing very well as a 21 year old in AHL
2026/27 - AHL and NHL mixed bag

Time will tell. Being in the AHL at 20 is hard. No one on Grand Rapids is at a .ppg so maybe it's a more defensive structure and winning structure?
