Stan had a plan. It was to continue to compete with Toews and Kane and Keith as the core. He just continued to whiff on adding pieces to continue to contend. Panarin trade, Jones trade, etc.
The hawks management literally sent out a letter of intention to rebuild to the fans which is why we got rid of Crawford Saad and co in the 2020 offseason.

Stan just frequently changed his plan every other season and it left the team in no man’s land until he was fired

Crazy how fast this downturn for Moore has gone. I was stoked about the pick at the time and the majority of draft rankings had him considered as a steal in that spot.

It stings even more when you think they took Gajan just 16 picks later and how starved we are for young impact forwards to play with Bedard.

ugh
Moore you could at least understand. Gajan will always piss me off due to the fact he was openly blabbering to the media how Chicago was going to take him weeks leading up to the draft on top of being a gigantic disappointment. No overager should ever be taken with a high pick. It’s even worse thanBowman wasting a pick on overager Chad Yetman

In my opinion having a lightning fast disrupter that you can have playing somewhere in the top 9 is a great asset to have. The modern day NHL seems to be a heck of a lot faster than even relevantly recent years past.

Imagine if Moore turns out to be an elite shutdown/checking line center just like Bolland used to be in his heyday with the Hawks. Bolland was wicked in his role.

I for one am pumped to see how he turns out.

One thought I have regarding Moore is yes, his touch and hockey IQ could use some work but I don't know how fast his linemates are at Minnesota. Like is it useful being fast if your linemates can't keep up? I'd love to see how he does when he gets to play with some of the other speedsters the Hawks have in the system.

Like if he signs later this season, I'd love to see a line with him and maybe Nazar and Reichel in the NHL or Lardis and Savoie on the AHL.

Moore is a complementary player and his point production will be dependent on his linemates.

He drives great metrics and will contribute to his line's offense even when he doesn't end up on the scoresheet.

It's starting to feel like his IQ is underrated. Outside of holding onto the puck too long sometimes, I find he's usually going to the right spots and is rrally positionally sound.

I bet we keep Moore for a little longer to see if he can be a defensively responsible 3rd liner. That's the good outcome as of right now. I don't see him being a guy you can regularly slot in your top 6. Maybe as a substitute or if you need to shake up the lineup. His hockey IQ has never been great and I don't think the offense will ever be there. We'll see what KD has up his sleeve. He might think we have too many guys that project to be in similar roles as Moore (Boisvert, Spellacy, Slaggert)
