F Maddox Schultz - Regina Pat Blues, SAAHL U15 (2028 Draft)

Hey! I was just about to post this video. (smile)

At 14 and 5'10", I wonder if he has a few more inches in him to grow.
Im not sure, but he already looks pretty well built for someone of that age. Difficult to know what he’ll be until he plays junior but he looks a lot like Barzal/Cooley with his skating mechanics out there with an even higher sharp end skill due to his shooting

3 point game for Schultz, sending his team to the finals with a 3-1 series win over the Blazers. He's had 12 straight multi-point games, going back to the regular season, including the 7 playoff games he's played so far. He currently leads the playoffs in scoring, with 8-8-16 in 7 games. His team will play the winner of Swift Current and Moose Jaw.

Who are the players that Maddox can compare to in style in your opinion? I've seen comparisons with Crosby-lite.
What ceiling do you think he can reach?

He was unreal and when he scored the dagger 4th goal(on a unreal one-timer post and in) did a nice little wave to the crowd, the Hamm was packed too. 2nd goal Cs scored was also super impressive as Schultz came in 1v2 but is smart enough to cut across them put it low left pad and kicked out for a rebound goal. Most players would either just dump in or attack straight into the defenders.

For style I don't want to put the Crosby pressure on him so I'll say a mix a Brayden Schenn and Berkly Catton mixed(which is kinda Crosby anyway) Schenns bulldog mentality and physical presence with Cattons unreal skill+IQ.

Another thing I've been hearing is if Kelowna gets the 1st pick there's a handful of teams that are trying to move up for Schultz an Kelowna needs A LOT for next year hosting the Mem Cup. I'm hoping Edmonton(Moose Jaw) wins the lottery though so I can see Iginla, Stroeder and Schultz together.

In the last 2 years I've seen a lot of people comparing Celebrini to Crosby-lite. In that case, are Schultz and Celebrini very similar? Celebrini 2.0?

didn't see Celebrini in bantam or midget but Schultz is sure tracking like it what I've seen of him in NCAA. Always unknown of how players translate as they go up but Schultz keeps improving at a unreal pace.

Schultz and his team are league champs, after sweeping the finals, bringing their playoff record to 9-1. He led playoffs in scoring with 9-13-22 in 10GP, where the next highest scorer had 16 points. His 22 points ties Jaden Schwartz for 7th all time in scoring in a single playoff, although that was Scwhartz's 15 year old season, compared to this being Schultz's 14 year old season.

Here's the WHL draft lottery (Schultz Sweepstakes?) order based on standings.

Edmonton (via Moose Jaw)
Regina
Kelowna
Everett (via Kamloops)
Vancouver (via Wenatchee)
Red Deer

There's some comments over in the WHL section here that the draft lottery will take place on April 10th and that expansion Penticton will get the 4th spot. If they run the draft lotto the same way, the balls will be assigned with Edmonton getting six, Regina getting five, Kelowna getting four and so on, with the winner of the lotto only being able to move up two spots with Penticton assumed to stay at 4 no matter what.

So absent any trades, he'll end up in Edmonton, Regina or Kelowna.

What are the odds of Everet winning the lottery? Have you ever thought about Dupont-Schultz?! That would be insane.

Based on previous lottos, Everett would have a 14% (3/21) chance of winning the lotto but they can't draft 1st because the winner can only move up two spots, so the highest they could draft is 2nd.

Not that it's any surprise, but Schultz was named league MVP and rookie of the year.

The Pat Cs play Winnipeg tomorrow in the regional finals. The three regional games will be a big test for Schultz as they can secure him a spot in the Telus Cup.

Does this mean Schultz will only be able to go to Kelowna, Regina or Edmonton?
