NHL Draft lottery race - Bruins currently have 4th Pick

Unfortunately, Gillies, who was a monster fighter, had Terry's number most of the time. Terry had to go full Taz mode (even kicking!) just to hang in there with the big guy. I remember them fighting 4 times in the playoffs in 1980. Terry was getting his brains beat in, but he never backed down, not even once.

Behn Wilson was on a recent podcast and talked about how tough O'Reilly was and how much respect he had for him. Wilson is as tough as anyone who's played the game..

Never seen the kid play but a back injury that keeps a kid out the majority of a season is worrisome

If season ends today and the lottery is precisely what the standings are today, have to wonder what each team is looking to draft, San Jose likely needs everything but I suspect no way they don`t take Schaeffer, no clue what the Hawks and Preds will do though
I know the McQueen injury has more hype than it needs to an extent. It has been said that the injury was due to large growth spurts and he more or less just needed his body to catch up to carrying that large frame. No surgery or anything required just needed to strengthen his core and back. So this isnt the same deal as Cayden lindstrom on columbus.

But if bruins do stay at 4OA there should be no reason they don’t take 1 of hagens/ Lundell/ Martone.

I’m optimistic on Desnoyers given the lack of talent and goaltending in the Q I’d actually prefer McQueen or O’Brien if they still stick with the center route. But I think people forget that McQueen had been a projected top 5 pick for well over a year until this season so given the fact that he missed almost all season and remains ranked highly when you have a guy like Carter bear who got hurt and his draft stocked plummeted from top 12 to early to mid 20s says something about what mcqueens potential is. You can hate his skating but he has a very similar style to vilardi and most teams would love vilardi on their team, you just hope the health would be better.

Neely guy my guess is Martone

Martone gives me Trevor Linden vibes and seems uber nice - he makes Brandon Carlo seem mean

Also he is a Leafs fan who said he is a morning person and considers getting up at 9 am early
definitely not shy about playing with some jam

Yeah, I don't see them in the mix for 1 overall next year at all. They'll have a healthy squad (well, what's left of it) and around $28M in the offseason to work with.

Next years draft is supposed to be stacked. they could still end up drafting another super star in the first round next year. If they get one of the best centres at this draft and another star next year that
Would definitely accelerate the retool.

19 playoff series wins in a row doesn't get talked about enough. In a 32 team league with a salary cap, that's a record that will never be broken IMO. Heck, it will likely stand the test of time in NA pro sports, not just hockey.
Don't say a record will never be beaten LOL .....I would have NEVER thought Gretzky's goal record would be broken.

Bruins could then trade down a spot or two if someone really wants Schaefer
What if bruins pick 5th and Schaefer is still on the table. other teams might not want to take a risk on drafting a D over a potential franchise centre. Especially one who only played a handful of games in his draft year.

Martone is a very good player and Captain of his team.
Linden was a better skater vs Martone at this point.
Martone plays more physical and more of an edge.
This is a good read about him.

I also remind the incredible duo of pederson middleton at thoses moments

Early in the season of 1982-83, they went on a road trip to Edmonton and then Vancouver. They beat Gretzky, Messier, Coffey in Edmonton without Ray Bourque
by a 5-3 score. The next night Leveille nearly died. That Bruins team lost some key players to injury in O'Reilly and Milbury for the playoffs. They took that Islanders dynasty team to 6 games despite Leveille, O'Reilly and Milbury not being able to play and Peeters playing average to poor. Had they been healthy I think they may have
had a shot at beating NYI.

Biggest question for me is does he like dogs

Since Linden was a center I would say Martone is more a Rick Nash. I watched the 2024 US-Canada, U-18 Championship game yesterday. Desnoyers centered McKenna\Martone, while Hagens centered Eiserman. Schaeffer was in that game also.

Desnoyers is a really talented 2 way center with a dose of physicality and has less potential of busting than Hagens, who has zero physicality. Hagens skates better and
has the higher offensive skill set but Desnoyers has good hands and is no slouch offensively and plays 200 feet.

That was an interesting game to watch given there were 4 of the top 6 rated players
in that game.

There will probably be a forward the Bruins like at #5, but if Schaefer does fall to them, maybe that allows the Bruins to move Lohrei for a more NHL-ready young NHL Center.

If Letourneau ends up good (and I would not bet either way) how many who trashed him admit they were wrong
I’ll be first in line. I don’t think he plays in the NHL and I’d love to be wrong.

And he’s not the only “big center” they had to have. He’s just the latest. It’s like a fetish for this franchise. Hopefully this time they just go for the talent.

Its great having the leafs 1st to trade at the deadline, get to keep whichever is higher.

Once McAvoy got injured in 4 Nations, I was all aboard the tank train...lol. Said jyst needed a 2 month tank and grab an impact player.
Bruins on March 13 (21 days ago) at 30-28-8 an 85 point pace

In 12 days hopefully we are 4 OA

That’s a 4 + week tank

Buffalo has gone 14 years ~ Bruins fans can handle 33 days

I’m not sure about his pace and I wanted The guy who went next to LA but rooting for him

Hoping for Peter McNab 2.0

always liked McNab, there was a stretch there where you could pencil him in on day1 for 30 goals , 70/80 pts, impressive for a dude picked in what? 5/6th round? Mind you, far fewer teams and I think he was picked in a spot that would be 3rd round or so by today`s standards
