Four point opening night in the Q and he’s still only 16. I feel like he was already starting to catch up to the other 2026 Swiss players so it’ll be interesting to see how high he can climb.
Hist development literally exploded last year. He went from some forward who wasn't even a mainstay on the U16 national team to arguably the best Swiss skater of the class. Maybe injuries have held him back earlier in his junior career. If you look at his games played stats, there were some seasons he has apparently only played a handful of games. Still its a pretty crazy rise. Makes you wonder how far he can go in the next two years until draft day. Its definitely not going to be just smoth sailing from now on though. He will have to prove that he can endure the CHL grind. But if he can held his own in the Q in the forseable future he should already be a strong candidate for this years WJC.
My post was about the 2026 NHL draft. Lars Steiner was always the most promising Swiss born skater for that one. I'm not sure who else should have been frontrunner ahead of him. Again, Trachsel is very interesting as well but he's a goalie.
I was refering to the 07 birth year rather than the draft class, as its easier to compare them since they have all played for the same junior national team. I think you can still make a case for Schenk being in the same tier as Steiner particualrly because of Schenks physical attributes. Size seems to be getting more important at the draft again and Schenk has that in spades.
Yeah he should have gotten the OT winner today as well for the start to be at least good, but what can you do...
It's bound to get more difficult for Steiner but for a different reason. The Q is starting early, with NHL camps still ongoing. Over the next days, lots of veterans are gonna return to their Q teams.
A good draft-1 season can improve his stock to and would allow him to hit the ground running next year. But the main goal should obviously be to get comfortable in the new enviroment.

They say all tankings are created equal, but clearly that statement is not true. See, normally when you finish 32nd overall you've got an 18.5% chance of winning the lottery, but I'm Taylor Hall and I'm not normal so you got a 5% at best chance of getting the #1 overall. Then you add Gary Bettman to the mix and your chances of winning drastically go down! I got a 141 2/3% chance of winning the number one pick. See, the numbers don't lie and they spell disaster for you at the draft lottery!
Too early to tell. A year ago I'd have said no but he had a very big last season and the hot start in the Q is certainly encouraging. It's rather uncommon for Euro rookies to have a start like this, especially given the fact that, as an 07 late birthday, he must be among the youngest regulars in the league.
