Certainly, but what interests recruiters is to know if he has developed physically. Technically, he has always been a superb player. Personally, I will wait to see what he produces in the NCAA next year to consider him in a draft.

He should’ve been drafted, but almost everyone on that team had their stock fall because the team was so poorly coached. He’ll get a contract eventually, but will have to work his way up. He’ll be at least a good AHL player.

I don't know why I'm feeling so strongly about this, but this guy seems like a classic Carolina Hurricanes mid-round pick in the next draft.

I get that he's not the biggest guy, but no way does he end up undrafted next year, no?

Produces quite well but undrafted. Probably will just be an elite scorer in the A & European Pro, but will likely get some NHL games down the road.

Can see him putting up Sam Anas/Chase De Leo-type numbers in the AHL (with the occasional NHL call-up) but hard to see more than that given his size.

More intrigued by Zabaneh. Not a lot of offense but plays in all tough situations for BU.

why do you see his 5 foot 8 size as something that he cannot, so called work around it?
- DeBrincat is 5 foot 7 and about 170 lbs, not that one can compare someone like
Wilmer to him but, i don't see his size as an issue, or is he a bad skater or some
other reasons

Like you say, Wilmer doesn't compare to DeBrincat (few players do). When I watched Wilmer (admittedly a small sample size) his size was notable and it just seemed he would be limited against bigger, more skilled players.

When you watch forwards like Marchand or Zuccarello you can tell they're short but it doesn't prevent them from being effective.

Obviously, those are two extreme examples and Wilmer could exceed expectations.

He is a bad skater for 5’8. It’s why he wasn’t drafted.

I don't necessarily think Wilmer is a bad skater for his size. Zuccarello is similar, he's not a bad skater but hes not really a burner. He's got some speed but really it's his elusiveness and creativity. Whereas someone like Gaudreau, his skating compliments his offensive ability. Really the problem with Wilmer is his strength/weight.

Zuccarello isn't the fastest player but he plays at 180 LBs. DeBrincat and Krug I've seen varying numbers. They're jacked though. St Louis played at 180... he had tree trunks for legs. Nothing wrong with that size player in the league, but you need to be strong and have some weight. From what I've seen Wilmer is still in the 150s... maybe if his skating or puck abilities were outrageous that would mask some of the size issues. But that's why the college route is good for him, the skill isn't the issue, he needs to get heavier/stronger. You'll notice it often against bigger players he gets knocked off the puck way too easily. A lot of those smaller guys in the league, you can't just flick them and they lose the puck, that's kinda where Wilmer is at right now. He really needs to add another 20 pounds. And this is coming from someone that thinks he was easily worth a draft selection as a project
