EDIT: Not to derail the thread, but did you also notice Misa's trip on Hensler that wasn't called? Announcer's said "Hensler blew a tire" and this tweet said Misa "helped create a turnover," but watch his foot hit Hensler's from behind. I doubt it was an intentional slew foot, but it had the same effect on Hensler.

Yeah, I called this out in the tournament thread. Definitely a slew foot and should have been a penalty instead of a gift breakaway goal for Catton. To be fair to Misa I don't think it was intentional but should have been a tripping call nonetheless.

There is a chance that by the end of the tournament, one of James Hagens or Cole Eiserman hold the U17 tournament record for points in a single tournament - the record is 18 points and is held by Colin White who set the record in 2013 in 6 games.

He’s definitely got the “it” factor…I can’t imagine what they hype would be if he were a couple inches taller. Regardless he’s got a motor and plays bigger than his size…he’s just an electric presence out there and a danger in so many ways.

His brother is still only 17 and is up to 6’ even as of this fall so there’s every chance by his draft season his measurements won’t even be a projection issue either. If he adds a couple inches to the frame and then starts to fill out - he’s going to be impossible to handle (not that his peers can handle him now).

I was at the game last night and Hagens (and Eiserman for that matter) was just on another level. Hagens was engaged physically like you said, and their ability to make smart, NHL-looking plays in the offensive zone at that age is impeccable.

dont forget too though the NTDP program is a team for the year that plays together all year so their chemistry in tournaments like this are a bit of an advantage...not down playing Hagens or Eiserman at the tournament....just saying the Canadiens teams are thrown together with not much time to gel and the USA team is set so it would be easier to making amazing IQ plays when you know how your teammates move and have set plays that are practiced over and over for the past 2 months.

It’s likely true, in general, but Hagens has looked a good amount better than everyone at this tournament, including his teammates.

LJ Mooney who has been playing up a year for years - easily a top-5 prop spect right now.

The 2025 American draft class has potential to be special.

I don't think we can attribute the success of Hagens and Eiserman to "chemistry" to any great degree. They've clearly been the two best players in my eyes, but it's because of their skill, not their chemistry together.

Sure, it helps them, and it probably helps the team overall a bit more in terms of playing a system that helps them win, but from a scouting standpoint, these two players -- and especially Hagens -- deserve the accolades they're getting.
