I'll tell you what, I'll give you this. From a strictly habs point of view he could possibly be considered generational, in the sense that the habs haven't had this type of prospect/player with this much potential and talent in literally generations. He most certainly could be a "franchise player" but that's as far as it goes.

As good as he is or could be, he does not fit into the definition of that of a NHL generational player. That said he does have potential superstar written all over him.

Lots of good things to look forward to for habs fans.

Demidov - Hutson is God’s gift to hockey fans
Going to be entertaining with Caufield/Laine on the left as trigger men. Dangerous chances for days.

Exactly this.

Harder for Chicago to acquire a player that projects as a 1D than to acquire an elite scoring forward. Do we think there are going to be a shortage of scoring forwards that want to play with Bedard?

Demidov might end up better than Levshunov (or maybe not), but Levshunov is pretty good and having a good season. Some teams just build different from a philosophical standpoint. Some would prefer a Seider or Ekblad over a Kaprizov or Marner, and others would take the player that’ll put up more points.
I agree with most of what you said, but looking at the McDavid situation, it's not that easy to find scoring forwards to pair with your star C. I feel like the wing position is really undervalued on HFboards.

7pts short of the best season ever for a U20 in the KHL. With a bunch of games left, this should be interesting
I'm more interested in Demidov breaking Kirill's pt/g of 0.86, since Kaprizov only played in 48 games. So Demidov would need 58 points in that case, which he should easily be able to at this rate.

In terms of points/60 he's destroying the league.

Demidov (4.28), Kaprizov (3.32), and Michkov (3.08).

Even-strength it's Demidov (4.16), Kaprizov(2.78), and Michkov (2.66)

Looking at the McDavid situation, it’s even more difficult to find a 1D. The biggest reason McDavid hasn’t won the Cup isn’t because his team doesn’t score enough goals.

It’s that for all their star forward talent, they don’t have the same level of talent on the backend and in the crease.

From the habs behind the scenes thing they put out for the draft, trading the 1st (possibly just back) was an option they were/would consider.
Exactly. The trade offer that Kent mentioned to Lapointe, I'm sure that was Chicago. They offered the same thing to Columbus. Kent was only considering it if "things didn't go our way." If Chicago had selected Demidov at 2, then I think Hughes would have been a lot more willing to trade the 5th pick, with which Chicago could have used on Levshunov.

In hind sight, THANK GOODNESS they selected Levshunov and left Ivan for the Habs. I think that single decision has had more of an effect on the Habs' rebuild than any other single transaction, and it wasn't even the Habs' decision.
