Cup teams can afford to have smaller players on their roster, it's not the end of the world if they ice some guys under 6ft.

Tampa won with Kucherov and Point. Colorado won with Makar. Pittsburgh won with Crosby and Guentzel. Hawks won with Kane. And I'm just listing off the more significant players under 6ft on those teams, all of those teams generally iced at least a few smaller guys.

If you are drafting size, you are passing up a lot of talent. I don't know Verbeek's drafting method as well as Ducks fans, but I do know he is/would be an idiot to pass up going BPA just because he has a size fetish.
I think it is fair to say that there are no bad picks in the top 5 if things go as currently ranked. Each team will have the 2-5 players ranked differently based on their own preferences and I could see Demidov going anywhere from 2-5 depending on team preference. I'm sure he'll be a great player as will Levshunov, Silayev, and Lindstrom. FYI...all signs and insider talk point to the Ducks going D with their pick.

I think you're working too hard to argue a point I wasn't making. ;). It's a shot at the size queens whose definition of small seems to be getting bigger all the time.

Demidov is only small to those peeps, and most importantly he doesn't play small.

Caveat: the hunched back while skating forward might be screwing with people's eyes a bit though.

PV drafted Mintyukov at 10 when he was only 6’ tall. He obviously prefers big players that can skate but let not act like he has everyone else in a do not draft list.
