I also heard from a Finnish relative yesterday that there was a Russian dutchess (ruhtinatar) with last name Demidova who fled to Finland, but was cheated out of all her fortune and ended up living in a basic yard house in Eastern Finland. It humbled her. It may or not be the case that Ivan is related to this dutchess.

Ivan is generational in skill BUT also as humble as one can be if it is true. Where does it end with this guy?? Soon we gonna hear that he is a reincarnated Gretzky?? WOW!!

Actually, I'm a fan of hockey. I love watching all the new faces of the sport. I am a fan of Demidov also.

Nothing wrong with all of them being good. You don't have to get extra boisterous and denigrate Michkov to praise Demidov.

I don't think Demidov would approve of it either. I think he probably wants his good friend to be successful.

They aren't even picked by the same team and they aren't from the same draft. There's no reason to pump one up to deflate the other, yet you (and some others) persist in constantly trying to compare Demidov to Michkov. It's sad.

Well, we kept being reminded Michkov is 2-3 tier above, the best russian prospect in history and all that, then Demidov actually has a better D+1 season... and there's still Michkov noise in the Demidov thread.

10 min is pretty typical use for a rookie, nothing outlier. Overall pretty close in TOI to what Michkov had. And relative contribution stats are still better for Matvei. Despite all health problems he had during the season.

Yeah, Ryan Reaves playing with McDavid... Alright, maybe not with McDavid, but still solid top6 players and not your typical 4th line scrubs. Of course it woudn't help Reaves to score goals, but if only Michkov had someone as good on Phily even for 10 min/game...

Can you post proof of all these things you claim?

Because I think the consensus has been that:

A. Michkov is not 2-3 tiers above Demidov, but most have generally thought he was ahead of him.

B. Michkov is not the best Russian prospect ever. Most generally have thought that he's probably the best since Ovechkin and Malkin.

C. Demidov is allowed to have a better statistical season (even then it's debatable, as you've seen the arguments in this thread devolve from). Sometimes MacKinnon or Draisaitl or Matthews will have a better season than McDavid. Multiple players are allowed to be good at once. Best prospect doesn't have to equal better D+1 season, if it's even granted that Demidov has had the better D+1 (not sure everyone has agreed there, but it's a fair statement to suggest he might've).

The insistence to tear down Michkov is so unneeded. You don't see anyone tearing down Demidov. More than anything, it gives Habs fans a bad rep due to the actions of a few.

Habs fans are absolutely tame compared to the obnoxious nonsense that was directed our way by the cult of michkov since about 3 seconds after carey price mispronounced reinbacher.

Yea, I'm a Habs fan and I get tired of seeing the dozens of sarcastic posts about Michkov. We get it. Let's move on and enjoy both players.

While I agree that its crazy to compare Michkov/Demidov to Crosby/Ovechkin, just looking at the top 10 point producers in NHL history, two were selected 4th (Francis and Yzerman), one was selected 5th (Jagr) and one was selected 15th (Sakic). Where they were drafted matters far less than the fact that Ovechkin and Crosby were MVP level players as soon as they made the NHL, and Michkov is not (and Demidov probably wont be next season).

If it was not the fact they were playing in Russia..both guy would have been drafted second overall.....Michkov in 2023 and Demidov in 2024.

..but yes they are not 87 and 8 obviously
