F Ivan Demidov - SKA St. Petersburg, KHL (2024, 5th, MTL) Part 2

He got a hat trick. Big deal.

Did he break anyone's face in a fight? NYET

Did he deke 12 guys before scoring? NYET

Did he bring peace to the Middle East between goals? NYET

So why the fuss? You Hab fans are so delusional about Demigod.
I can't take this post seriously. Something tells me you're a Habs fan. Feels like you're a HabsAddict.

I've never seen a player like this in the Canadiens organisation its so weird.....I don't think anything can stop this kid....his drive and attitude are insane , it's gonna take some divine intervention for him to bust.

Molson: Hold my beer.

This guy could even walk into the Bergevin Habs and still hit his full potential. His mental makeup and will to get better at every part of the game is what really impresses me the most with him considering his obvious talent

Bergevin's problem was his ego. He couldn't lose a battle. He saw contract negotiations as fights and he always wanted to come out victorious.

What are his strengths and weaknesses?
Strengths:
Elite hands
Elite vision
Elite skating
Elite passing
Strong shot
Very handsome
High effort and battles through adversity

Weaknesses:
Needs to continue to work on his 200ft game
Sometimes leaves himself vulnerable to hits that NHL defensemen will definitely make unlike KHL players

Also keep in mind he's doing it playing four minutes less per game than michkov and averaging 40 seconds of pp time while others played 2.5 minutes+.

Easily a better prospect than michkov.
Here we go again, why are you guys so obsessed with comparing him to Michkov? Almost like Michkov is the bar for Habs fans.

It’s that damn smile

Because Michkov was in the KHL last year at the same age.

First, TOI and scoring aren't linear. A lot of things depend on quality of teammates, team style etc. Second, Michkov had 4 breaks during the season because of illnesses (one of them was almost month long because of pneumonia) so he had big problems with conditioning and getting in shape. Third, he played for a terrible team with terrible PP and everything. He still had the best PPG on his team by far.

Funny shit: SKA has already scored 181 goals in 49 games this season. Sochi had 168 goals in 68 games last season, and Michkov played in just 47 of them...

Michkov scored 19 goals out of the team's 123 in those 47 games he played in, Sochi's GPG was 2.62 with Michkov and 2.14 without him. I think Habs fans should somehow mention this in all those stats...

It is what it is. There's always gonna be comparisons of players from the same country or leagues. The last players coming from russia that can compare to Demidov are Michkov and Kaprizov, of course people will make some comparison. Especially with Demidov having a chance to break the U20 KHL record.

I mean it isn't exactly crazy to compare 2 players' stats who both played in the same league, at the same age, one year apart. People do it with players in the CHL, NCAA, etc... literally all the time. And there haven't been many high end NHL prospects in the KHL for a while, so it's natural to compare 2 that were drafted one year apart. Nobody is saying Michkov sucks, and most people aren't saying Demidov is better.

Except me, I am saying that. He is better.

Personal opinion is personal opinion... And I'm is one of the biggest Demidov's fans on this forum as well. It's just you have to see the whole picture not just parts you love. One day they will play together on Team Russia with other great young Russian kids, it's gonna be a very fun team to watch.

I'm soo happy with the season of Demidov in KHL.

I wanted to see 30-35 pts in 40-45 games, now he have 40 pts in 48 games. That's sooo good!!

I knew that he was always a great stick handler, hard worker and playmaker, but 2 things impressive me more from him, his shot and his all around game.

I see him score like Kaprizov, 35-45 goals per season. With a ton of assists who will reach 100-120 pts per year. Yess, I have no doubt that he can reach multiples season of 110-120 pts, he is that good!!

Why were Michkov fans obsessed with telling every fanbase of the teams that passed on him how dumb they were for not drafting him despite extenuating circumstances that had nothing to do with talent?
I don't see what that has to do with this thread. Michkov's name doesn't have to come up when Demidov has a good game. Why can't they both be good?

The only people that want to connect them are Habs fans that feel like they need to write a wrong on the Reinbacher pick. It's viewed as a way to say "see, it wasn't that bad" if Demidov ends up better than the player people believe they should've picked instead.

There's many reasons, but a big one that hasn't been mentioned yet, is that several Michkov fans called habs fans delusional last summer for saying Demidov was the same level of talent as Michkov. According to them, Michkov was multiple tiers better than Demidov.
