Don’t agree. The worst thing the Habs could do is to shortcut their rebuild and bring in some non needle mover that hurts their salary cap. Demidov can develop at his own pace and given the time and patience needed to turn into a superstar. He obviously needs better linemates on 5vs5, I doubt Montreal has any proper top6 players save the 1st line and Demidov. The situation is kinda similar to what Michkov had on the Flyers.
The difference is Flyers had even fewer top6 players so Michkov sometimes played with TK and Couts, and on Montreal the 1st line is set in stone so Demidov needs his own 2nd line which the team doesn't have. Let's see what its management is gonna do this offseason.
Habs team needs lots of work. Some holes can be filled internally but some need to be filled externally. And these moves will happen over the course of yearsDon’t agree. They need to let their guys develop. If that means they are no better next season, so be it. They weren’t expected to make the playoffs this year. They need to let things play itself out. You’d hope that with time Dach can stay healthy and players like Hage, Kapanen, Roy, and Beck can provide some depth in the lineup that is currently lacking.
Yep. Montreal is at a bit of a crossroads this off-season where they can either use 2 mid 1sts in a less than mediocre draft on character guys or a reach on a RD like Fiddler or they can trade them in a package for a 2C to play with Demidov. I'd opt for the 2C route personally.Habs team needs lots of work. Some holes can be filled internally but some need to be filled externally. And these moves will happen over the course of years
If they can find a good 2 c thru trade or fa they have to jump on it
Great to see somebody outside the fanatic montreal fanbase that see it clearly. Montreal does not need all the pieces next year, they are not yet close to be contender. The most important is players development and patience. They did very well the past 3 season to stay patient and not spending on acquiring new players. They need to continue doing that. When they are ready to challenge it will be apparent and obvious. For now, we can still see the flaws and it's all good.Don’t agree. I hope Jeff Gorton is finally given the chance to let it play out and let his rebuild marinate without having his owner axe him at the first sign of some adversity. I hope Molson isn’t as reactionary as Dolan was because you see what can happen when things have to be sped up, and then you get a Chris Drury feeling like he has been installed with a mandate to be all in and make short term panic moves that shortcut a rebuild and don’t let the kids properly develop.Great to see somebody outside the fanatic montreal fanbase that see it clearly. All I’m saying is if the chance to add a rhd or 2c is there you take it this offseason. Championship teams are built slowly through unit draft, ufa, and trades. These spots can’t all be filled externally in one offseason/tdl where its decided it’s “time”Great to see somebody outside the fanatic montreal fanbase that see it clearly. When it's time you would have top depth everywhere and the players you will need to pick up will be to elevate some part of your team that you lack. All I’m saying is if the chance to add a rhd or 2c is there you take it this offseason. I think it's a mix. Habs accumulated a bunch of depth and have inside knowledge on who they think is the best/ pan out. Not using the depth to help the roster is potentially wasting NHL development for guys like Demidov and Hutson. They need help and insulation to develop in a good environment. This roster managed to make playoffs with no help, give them some help as a reward and see if they can take next step. IMO that's not a shortcut but a step forward. Not talking trading everything but they have extra 1st, 2nd this year. Maybe they trade both 1sts for help. Maybe 1st and 2nd. It's not hurting rebuild.Don’t agree. I was hoping that Anaheim could get him to pair with Carlsson. Seeing Demidov in Montreal has the potential to be very special though so as a neutral I still like the outcome. This kid just oozes talent. Montreal is so lucky he fell, some teams are going to regret that.

Don't be such a fracking troll. He took a while because of the coach he had, pure and simple. I don't imagine you're going to ride Hutson because he didn't get PP time until December? You’re right.
Demidov NHL D+1 = 1.0 PPG
Michkov NHL D+1 = 0/ not good enough to play
Demidov D+1 NHL playoff = 0.5 PPG
Michkov NHL D+1 playoff = 0/ not good enough to play
May I also remind you that it took ~40 games for Michkov in his D+2 to get 7 ES points and after that he had to be paired with TK to start producing ES points because he couldn’t carry a line himself otherwise. Let’s hope next year you’ll have the same standard for the first half a season for Demidov.
I think that eventually, he will replace one of Caufield or Slaf on the 1st. He is just too talented to stay on a 2nd line.He obviously needs better linemates on 5vs5, I doubt Montreal has any proper top6 players save the 1st line and Demidov. No doubt about it. He’s getting 100 points playing alongside Suzuki.I think that eventually, he will replace one of Caufield or Slaf on the 1st. He is just too talented to stay on a 2nd line.
