F Ivan Demidov (2024, 5th, MTL) Part 2

Lol, you guys are just clueless. He’s green as hell and got burned several times in the 12:00 minutes he played. But sure, let’s play him 20:00+ minutes on the top line and absolutely ruin his confidence before his career even starts.

Again, THIS WAS HIS 3RD NHL GAME. Not sure wtf you guys are expecting. Tell me when a 19 year old was put on the top line for the playoffs in his first few games, just one example in NHL history. Let’s hear it.
Obviously a positional difference, but didn't Makar become an immediate high impact player in his first games coming out of college?

He was a year older, and was used as the 6th D that playoffs. Girard, Zadorov, Cole, Johnson, and Barrie all averaged significantly more minutes than him.

I've never seen an NHL player move their feet less than Laine.
He was drafted for his shot unfortunately he is a little to stationary off the puck he would score way more if he moved a little more and tried to get open as he has great puck skills and vision unfortunately the way he plays off the puck makes him a mid six pp specialist

Their line needs a puck retriever. Laine is obviously not. It looks like Newhook isn't too. What do you expect, a rookie does all the job? On SKA he played with players who did a lot of hard job, like Bardakov or Plotnikov. And they were skilled enough for the KHL, it helped him tremendously to do what he can do the best, creative plays. On Montreal he just doesn't have such players.

The entire second line needs a rework. No worry we know that

Overall I'd say Michkov looked more effective than Demidov in his first NHL games. Of course he was older than Ivan's now, and Demidov's played 3 playoff games which are different than regulars.

Still without PP1 time Demidov won't score 60+ points next season.

...Habs need to find him a centre before they worry about next year's PP1...Kapanen's still a kid, Hage is at least a year or two away from even breaking into the League, Dach is far too unreliable defensively to play C, and Newhook isn't a viable Top 6 C either...

He’s getting PP1 time already lol. And no shit Michkov looked better in his first games; they were in preseason lmao

This is purposefuly obtuse, i'm sure he meant the regular season in which he had 2 goals, 2 assists and registered a point in 3 of his first 5 games.

Now with that said, the first 5 games of an NHL season are nothing compared to the NHL Playoffs, so its just not a fair comparison.

But everyone here, you included, knows he didn't mean preseason games

I think it’s out of frustration the game looks way too fast for him at the NHL level, he doesn’t have the IQ as some of the premiere prospects. He's been invisible the entire series despite playing huge minutes.
Did Demidov steal your son's girlfriend or something? The amount of bias you have against him is insane.

The dude hasn't played huge minutes. What are you even talking about?

That’s not true. He could easily have at least 2 points yesterday and I never thought his stickhandling and dekes would translate as easy, especially because his is not the fastest skater. I have yet to see Michkov exposing a NHL D like Carlson as Demidov did yesterday.

came here to see how he's looking in the playoffs and some MTL fans STILL still consistently brining up Demidov lmao. The fascination is borderline mental at this point

Demidov learning what it takes to be successful in the NHL/playoff. Different pace than the KHL and he got brought in against one of the biggest, most physical and talented team in the league.

He had a rough game 1. Decent game 2 and I thought he looked quite good in game 3. You can see he is getting more comfortable out there and that is unbelievable experience for him right now and invaluable for his calder season next year

Man you are one crazy poster. I’m ashamed you have my Champ in your avatar. I live in Philly and fans here are awesome but your take on Demidov is cringe. Michkov is good for Philly and the Flyers. Chill man

Lol

Im guessing you didn't watch the game yesterday where you know, he played solid almost mistake free hockey, finished hits and had a couple solid scoring chances/plays

He's 19 playing in high intensity playoff games, this is great for his development and he's getting more minutes than I expected
