He's big and he's an actual center. NHL minimum is close to what he'd be making in Russia. We need a center or three.

why wouldn't you want to get a guy on a 1-year ELC and see if there's something there. If not, he would likely just go back.

I don't think either of those guys are any good. Atleast with Safonov I think he actually has a shot to play a role.

BWC of course believes any Russian prospect has a better chance…historically overvalues them compared to other similar prospects.

Jeez, dare to aim higher. Or stop using nationality as your sole criteria for assembling a roster.
The Hawks don't even own Shalunov's rights any more, what makes you think that, at age 32, he's finally going to decide to come to the NHL and sign with one of the worst teams in the league?
Unless it's a 2 way contract, I don't see him coming here......just doesn't sound like the kind of player KD covets, but if he can win faceoffs and park his big butt in front of a goalie here and there, who knows.
I think we do need size up front...
Safonov cannot score uich but if he can wn draws ,play goid defense abd check , use his size to screen goalies there coukld be a role..Dickinson replacement?
Also ii Believe VITALY KRAVTSOV's contract in the KHL end after this season is complete..
He is just 25 vyears old..6'3 194 23g 26a +24 to date this KHL sesson...was drafted in 2018 by NYR who traded his rights to Vancouver but when he signed ac2 year deal tompkaybinRusdia Van qualified him so I think they maintain his NHL rights till after he turnsx26????
So maybe a trade to get him if Hawks think he gained a new maturity and bloomed in Russia the past few seasons?
