F Frank Nazar (2022, 13th, CHI)

Currently (according to EP) Frank is 2nd in points in the AHL (behind former Hawk Vinny Hinostroza). 4th in PPG (minimum 10 games played) in the A. 1st in both those categories for U23.

For the sake of a fun comparison, similarly undersized forward Logan Stankoven last year (at the age Nazar is now) had a 1.21ppg in the AHL. Nazar is currently at 1.33ppg. And Stankoven had Mavrik Bourque to play with, MB putting up over a PPG pace (1.08) last season on that team. The next best player on the Icehogs, points-wise, is Colton Dach who is under a PPG (0.89).

That's not to say Nazar is going to be better than Stankoven, who is in the running right now for the calder. It's not even saying he's on Logan's level. But the comparison is to further illistrate how well Frank Nazar has performed so far this season.

He might not have gotten all that much attention these last two years (in due part to his hip), but if you're one of those nerds on this site that bothers to pay attention to prospects in opposing farm systems, pay attention to Frank. He's looking damn good right now. And all his plays are highlight reels.

He's gonna be a damn good player. Whether he plays with or without Bedard consistently, he's going to driving some serious offensive numbers for the Hawks

On the smaller side but he's always had the pedigree and continues to follow up on it. Just like Stankoven did and does

Yeah, should get an opportunity pretty soon if injury bug hits or players get moved closer to the deadline. With the long break for the 4 nations tournament, that'd be a good point to give him (and Dach) a chance to play up for the rest of the season (season resumes February 22, NHL trade deadline is March 7). Both of them will be on their third year of their ELC next year (because Nazar had a year burned at the end of the last season) so if all goes to plan, I'd expect both to be full time Hawks next season. The third guy on their line tonight was Slaggert (one year older than Dach, who is one year older than Nazar), who the Hawks already extended to a 1-way contract for next season, so I'd also expect him to get a fulltime roster spot on the Hawks for 2025-26.

Frank will be better than Stankoven, and I say that as someone who likes Stankoven

What I've been noticing is that he's got all the tools to play in the NHL but also very cocky and isn't mature enough for the NHL yet.

I’m better looking than Brad Pitt. I’m a killer. Sone of y’all might feel rubbed the wrong way on that.

How'd you pick up on that.
Do you watch hockey? I was tuning into the NYI-Hawks game yesterday.

I was intrigued to see Nazar seeing what his role with the Blackhawks will be when they become good again. What I noticed was in battles he would go to them against vets knowing he was going to get the puck but just struggled on the battle. But when he had offensive chances he's choke the puck, and when he skates he looks like he knows what he's doing which if he keeps his head up will be valuable. But he'd always make offensive turnovers. I mean no doubt he can play in the NHL, but he needs to learn what to do against more experienced NHLers.

No I don't watch sorry. I only post.

5pts in his last 4 games with the Hawks. Starting to turn a corner after a slow first few weeks after being called up.
Amazing really. I turned over to the game last night in time to see Nazar and Dach on a 2 on 2, with a bit of space as well.. Dach got the blueline, chipped the puck in the corner and completely killed any chance of a play... If he's playing with guys like that, 5 points is amazing.

He's playing 1st line with Bedard and Bertuzzi

Though he is on PP2 with Dach

Guys like that make up the majority of this team.

Happy for the Hawks, they badly needed some reinforcement on their 1st line. Hope he keeps up.
I was just saying a few days ago how unlikely they were with their recent selections. Hope they can prove me wrong.
