Yes, but if he is in NA a callup, or flat out making the team, was a distinct possibility, which would result in a NHL salary. Can't do that from the KHL. Khusnutdinov and Ohgren are thought to have a vg chance to make the NHL team this year, and no one thinks that they are better players than Yurov.
If he wants to stay in the KHL for his personal development, that's up to him, but $$, in this case, shouldn't have factored into his thinking. I'm all for him developing in the KHL rather than Iowa, but this year it was really a choice between the KHL and NHL.
