F Cole Reschny - Northern Alberta Xtreme, CSSHL (2025 Draft)

Does this guy have enough skill to be an nhl top 6er or will he end up being a tweener?

He's improved his skillset a lot over the last two seasons. Last year he was generating in part because he was just so tenacious, but he's scored some beautiful goals this season, showing off a soft pair of hands.

I wonder how much bigger he's going to get. He added a couple of inches in height over last year and he's just approaching his 18th birthday.

His attitude and character will make him an NHL'er. He might not be a top 6 guy but he will find a role.

Are you sure? He seems like exactly the type that may be top 6/9 or bust. Small and not an amazing skater. Maybe his compete level is there, but 5’10 and an iffy skater is still a big limitation, even with the compete level.

2G, 1A tonight. Putting up big numbers in the 2nd half of the season. I can see him move into the teens in terms of drafting.

What a filthy wrist shot!!! That was definitely a goalscorer's goal. As for the skating issues, that can easily be corrected. A little added muscle on the legs and some power skating lessons will fix that. He's sneaky good. Someone's going to be really happy with him.

Craig Button ranked him 11th on his latest list

Reschny also impressed as a sophomore with the Royals, scoring 26 goals with 92 points in 62 games this season.

“Outstanding hockey sense,” said Button of O’Brien and Reschny. “You’re not going to get end to end, pull you out of your seat type of play but you’re going to get really substantive, competitive, smart, in the moment, in the situation, productivity.

I really liked his game tonight, thought he was the best player on the ice. He has a sneaky good shot, but more than anything, it's his habits and positioning that are so great. Decent skater, but he's great with the puck as a transporter because he takes great routes, and makes excellent small area passes, and give-and-gos. He plays on the PK and PP, and while I don't think he will be the guy carrying the puck into the zone on PP1 most of the time, he'll be a good second option, and he's great in zone.

He lacks explosivity in his skating, so he doesn't create space for himself with his feet. He's probably only average strength for his size, so he can get worked over on the wall in board battles.

I thought he was better than Jackson Smith this game, who was also really good for Tri-City. Smith is a great skater, and will be a good transition player in the NHL one day, reminds me of Theodore, in that way.

Really impressive showing by Reschny in these two games. Noticeable every shift at both ends, such a smart player. Trembecky had the 5 point night but everything pretty much went through #7.
