I still find myself following and being interested in his progress. Usually once they’re not a Penguin I couldn’t care less, but Yager seems like a good kid and I’m curious how his skill package will translate. He’s skilled but not, like, eye-poppingly skilled. But the way he produces and the skillset he displays seems like it’ll translate on up the ladder.
Top end is a solid 2C. We'll take it, this team has been looking desparately for a Bryan Little replacement for years now and the team goes to shit up front anytime Scheifele is out.

I'm guessing he'll be fine long term but probably the biggest disappointment for Canada in this World Junior. Was the 3rd or 4th best forward for Canada last year on a sub par team, just non existent offensively so far.
The whole team is non-existent. Easily the most disappointing round robin team Canada i can remember. Hopefully they don't get embarrassed by the states.

More disappointing than last year's Canadian team? Outside of Celebrini & maybe Wood/Yager on certain shifts, that team was a complete shitshow.

Yager has been so disappointing this year in the World Junior

In the round robin yeah. Canada has lost to Latvia and was super close until the last few minutes vs Germany. Zero guys with any finish.

He seems to just kind of be blending in. Absolutely not the only player doing that but have almost been forgetting he is even on the team at times.
Exactly. Not the worst player, but is just kind of there. Since I would say the same of many of the players on the roster, I'm beginning to shift the blame onto the selection and coaching staff. The talent is there, but it is not being utilized properly(coaching), and the chemistry seems off(team selection).

The Latvians and Germans are playing their asses off. What are they doing right that the US and Canada aren't?

It's kinda funny that apparently his name has always been pronounced like Yagger or Yogger but as a Pen he didn't want to correct anyone. I would've done the same.

He has always been called Brayden YAY-ger in the WHL. Not sure where Gord Miller got the Jagr pronunciation from.

He was with Howe & Martone in the games I watched.

It didn’t seem like there’s any 1st or 4th line either. Just 4 evenly balanced lines- and he gets 2nd unit PP.

At this point no one on the entire roster- even Calum Ritchie - can create offence to save the lives of themselves or any of their loved ones. It's creeped into their heads now. Dickinson and Bonk do nothing for me as well.

He's on an All Star team, and isn't close to being the best player. Why should he merit something higher?
I would opine nobody has played like a 1st liner. With zero offensive production the whole roster needs to be shaken up.

I would put Yager with McKenna or Cowan and give him more Ozone time.
