F Anton Frondell - Djurgårdens IF U16, U16 Div.1 (2025 Draft)

There’s no doubt in my mind that several NHL scouts will leave Camrose with Frondell first or second on their overall list. Too many pro-level traits which are beyond elite at the junior level. He crushed it at the dot and almost all his wins were clean. He had only three or four unsatisfactory shifts the entire tournament.

I haven’t watched much of Frondell, but I tend to lean more to believing in the talent like the previous comments have said. Still, why isn’t he producing that much right now? Is it luck or a certain trait lagging behind that hasn’t clicked? I see all these great comments from the eye test but then I see he’s on pace for like .5 ppg and I wonder again.

Side note: Would you rather have Frondell or Helenius? Feel like it’s a somewhat similar situation, Helenius was in top 3-5 conversation after D-1 year, and fell a little bit and still had an extremely well rounded profile.

It’s almost an identical situation to Dvorsky’s in 2023 except AIK J20 wasnt as deep as Djurgardens. But people made a big deal of his drop in Allsvenskan production when he showed he could dominate his age group. Frondell is a dedicated checker once the puck enters his zone and plays a lot of man-to-man while anticipating puck travel. He’s rarely high so any transition to offense usually begins with him down low. I’d say he’d have a bunch of tertiary assists and his expected goal numbers would be quite high (at the J20 level). There’s also a bit of bad puck luck, but he rarely — and I mean rarely — has a shift where he doesn’t accomplish something positive, regardless of whether it develops into points in the box score.

I have plenty of video evidence of high-end playmaking and finishing.

Best-case scenario is Barkov/Toews/Trottier. Extreme IQ, selfless, tough board play, leadership, faceoffs, will run a PP, physical, in addition to having elite puck skills.
Please stop with those absurdity !! Typical HF poster that has no idea and overhype every new fresh toys.

If his best case scenario is Barkov, then he goes 1st overall in this draft no question asked. Those 3 players are all hall of famers and yes Barkov will be one at the end of his career.

No way Frondell has hall of fame prospect status currently, just stop the exageration.

Here's a more realistic one: Best case scanario is Elias Lindholm, which will already be a great accomplishment.

Been looking at draft rankings: Elite Prospects - NHL Draft Center

Frondell is all over. Tough get a read of where he might go. I'm inclined to believe Bobby Mac but he has him at #3 but Misa at #7 (with Ryabkin at #5) so I'm not sure I trust it much.

Where do most people have him?

That's right, the assessment of prospects is too high

Looks like someone doesn’t know what “best case scenario” means.

Should be No. 1 on Central Scouting’s Euro rankings that come out soon. He’s a lock top-10 pick. If he keeps this up and stays healthy, he will go top five without a doubt. I think he’s the closest to Hagens for first forward taken.

McKenzie's rankings is from September. Many of the rankings shown on EP's Draft Center are actually fairly old. Still, many rankings from December still have him 5-6th, while others have him outside their Top 10.

He’s rated mostly 5th after the 4 in North America. I don’t know how he’s really fallen so much after being looked at as 2 or 3 most of last season. I guess the injuries and Schaefer and Misa have done well. Maybe they just have more potential, but I don’t know that I’m sure about that yet. I’m closer to he’s about to break into the top 4 than he’s not top 5.
