F Anton Frondell - Djurgårdens IF U16, U16 Div.1 (2025 Draft)

There’s no doubt in my mind that several NHL scouts will leave Camrose with Frondell first or second on their overall list. Too many pro-level traits which are beyond elite at the junior level. He crushed it at the dot and almost all his wins were clean. He had only three or four unsatisfactory shifts the entire tournament.

I haven’t watched much of Frondell, but I tend to lean more to believing in the talent like the previous comments have said. Still, why isn’t he producing that much right now? Is it luck or a certain trait lagging behind that hasn’t clicked? I see all these great comments from the eye test but then I see he’s on pace for like .5 ppg and I wonder again.

Side note: Would you rather have Frondell or Helenius? Feel like it’s a somewhat similar situation, Helenius was in top 3-5 conversation after D-1 year, and fell a little bit and still had an extremely well rounded profile.

It’s almost an identical situation to Dvorsky’s in 2023 except AIK J20 wasnt as deep as Djurgardens. But people made a big deal of his drop in Allsvenskan production when he showed he could dominate his age group. Frondell is a dedicated checker once the puck enters his zone and plays a lot of man-to-man while anticipating puck travel. He’s rarely high so any transition to offense usually begins with him down low. I’d say he’d have a bunch of tertiary assists and his expected goal numbers would be quite high (at the J20 level). There’s also a bit of bad puck luck, but he rarely — and I mean rarely — has a shift where he doesn’t accomplish something positive, regardless of whether it develops into points in the box score.

I have plenty of video evidence of high-end playmaking and finishing.
