Seems like these have slippery gone to members only now after being free. Maybe Chad needs to pay off his vacation rather than get more exposure... but no thanks.
It's not even that they won't consider Buffalo, Terry won't even consider a position that Shanahan would be interested in (POHO) or moving on from Adams to create a job for Blake.Listened to the first few minutes on the drive to work today. It occurred to me just how sad this franchise has become. The Sabres were once an organization that could attract Punch Imlach, Scotty Bowman, John Muckler. At the beginning of the Pegula-era they could credibly pursue Babcock (before we knew…) and then pivot to the next high-profile coach available in Bylsma (he was coveted then). Today, nobody believes that a high-profile executive like Shanahan or Blake would even consider Buffalo.
Wasn't Bylsma out of the league a year at that point? Not sure Coveted would be the right term to use.Listened to the first few minutes on the drive to work today. Chad thinks Dudley (FL) could be the front runner for the SA, but that the more time that goes by the less of a impact he would have.Listened to the first few minutes on the drive to work today. Why would anyone want to take a job as a glorified babysitter for a lame duck GM in way over his head? Even if the thinking would be you'd be next in line when Kevyn gets sacked in April why would you want to work for an organization this stupid and incompetent?Chad thinks Dudley (FL) could be the front runner for the SA, but that the more time that goes by the less of a impact he would have.
I would be happy with it (or Jarmo) but the cynic in me thinks would he really leave that situation ?? You might really have to pay him and make him a VP.
As other have said, it’s a job that ostensibly could pretty easily turn into a GM job if/when Kevyn is finally removed. If you’re itching to become a GM again and don’t have other options, it could be appealing. Why would anyone want to take a job as a glorified babysitter for a lame duck GM in way over his head? Fair enough. I edited it to “he was not a coaching pariah”. At that time, teams had to give compensation to sign a fired coach under contract. The Sabres gave up a 3rd rd pick to sign him and gave him a 5 year contract. So, I guess, he was at least coveted by the Sabres.Wasn't Bylsma out of the league a year at that point? When Zito was hired in 2020 by FLA, I’m sure there was some pressure to improve quickly. But I also think that building out his team of advisors was about the long-game.Chad thinks Dudley (FL) could be the front runner for the SA, but that the more time that goes by the less of a impact he would have.

The truth is much more bleak and awful: He kept his job because Terry didn't want to pay him the last year on his contract to not work. When Zito was hired in 2020 by FLA, I’m sure there was some pressure to improve quickly. Adams, who was hired 3 months before Zito and who recently publicly acknowledged that the job is too difficult for him (taxes and palm trees), should have zero wiggle-room. Adams is not in a position to be thinking long-term. It really should be a new GM hiring a new team of advisors and assistants. Unless Adams is not under the pressure that I assume he is, then it makes little sense for him to be restructuring the management team this late in his tenure.
I wouldn't consider them high profile, they both flamed out in major markets after given ample time to deliver results. The old adage is money talks, if there was a unicorn out there, I think throwing a bunch of money makes the person consider.Listened to the first few minutes on the drive to work today.
