I'd say overall Russians are better stickhandlers, and Canadians are bigger and tougher. Like old Canada - USSR games.
I was just thinking this... I thought dach was going to be on a whole nother level than everyone else but obviously it's still early.
I’m eagerly hoping one day Russia will dominate Canada on the face off dotI'd say overall Russians are better stickhandlers, and Canadians are bigger and tougher. Like old Canada - USSR games.
I"m on my hands and knees praying that both Newhook and Mercer perform well. It's bloody rare to have a Newfoundlander on team Canada, it's almost never happens that you have two at the same time.Holloway-Newhook-Pelletier looking fantastic.
Aside from Holloway's penalty 5 seconds into their first shift, they've played great hockey, with Pelletier and now Newhook both drawing penalties.
Yeah, he definitely looks taller, I wonder if he’s grown a bit, I remember watching him earlier as well and he seems biggerYeah nice blocked shot, buries the pointman and made a smart play rather than dumping it.
He also looks bigger than I expected?
Again, too early. He looks great, do not give me wrong, but he does not give me that "could take the game at any moment" vibe we got from Lafreniere pretty much every shift last year. Not criticizing the guy.
Named him because I think he is the closest thing we have to a game breaker, but I do not know all of the players so I was asking.
The big boys take a bit longer to get their feet under them. If it's not him though I like Perfetti.I was just thinking this... I thought dach was going to be on a whole nother level than everyone else but obviously it's still early.
Again, too early.
We need more viewing time before we make that call. One period of exhibition hockey is not enough. How is it too early for people who know MORE than me about these guys WHO can be THE guy for us?
Not saying Dach cannot be, just that I am not getting that vide watching him play. Do not get me wrong, I absolutely love how he places so far. He makes smart simple passes; he accelerated the breakout that way at least two times. Great positioning, does not cheat without the puck, good vision. That makes him stand out because players at that level are not that well-rounded (his NHL experience shows).
As I said, I love the player.
So, I'll repeat my question: Is there a guy on the team that can dominate like Lafreniere did or is it gonna more "by committee"?

There was some really good back and forth action mid way through the 1st. Teams traded good grade A chances.
I expect them to settle into their games more in the 2ns. Liked the forecheck that lead to a post and some good chances. Need to stay physical and punish their D on the forecheck.
Byfield was flying out there, encouraging to see that from him.

Askarov is in netsnice touch for the Scotiabank commercial to have a Hip song in it (ahead by a century). Anyways, is Askarov the starter for Russia? just tuning in for second period till Czechs and Slovaks are done.lol
