Sloppy power plays for both teams.

Rather an even game, Canada had a couple dangerous chances, Russia with some decent looks in the first couple of minutes.

Askarov looks calm in goal. Levi as well

Holloway-Newhook-Pelletier looking fantastic.

Aside from Holloway's penalty 5 seconds into their first shift, they've played great hockey, with Pelletier and now Newhook both drawing penalties.
I"m on my hands and knees praying that both Newhook and Mercer perform well. It's bloody rare to have a Newfoundlander on team Canada, it's almost never happens that you have two at the same time.

This game matters more to me than the rest of the tournament. I'm shart confetti if both can get a goal each.

Yeah nice blocked shot, buries the pointman and made a smart play rather than dumping it.

He also looks bigger than I expected?
Yeah, he definitely looks taller, I wonder if he’s grown a bit, I remember watching him earlier as well and he seems bigger

He looks great, do not give me wrong, but he does not give me that "could take the game at any moment" vibe we got from Lafreniere pretty much every shift last year. Not criticizing the guy.

Named him because I think he is the closest thing we have to a game breaker, but I do not know all of the players so I was asking.
Again, too early.

We were the better team but we looked out of sync.

We need this. Glad we have 3 easy round robin games to start.

This has been a very good game so far. It is apparent that all the guys are playing their first game after some break, but at the same time the level of skill on both sides is massive. I watched this team Russia at Karjala this autumn and it was impressive how they were playing much more experienced opponents from quality European leagues. They are de facto playing men's hockey, with minimum mistakes typical for junior game. Canada looks to me like relying a little bit more on extremely talented individuals. They look a little bit more "junior" compared to the Russians, but the skill of each individual player is amazing. Perhaps the top teams in the tournament together with the US.

Again, too early.

How is it too early for people who know MORE than me about these guys WHO can be THE guy for us?

Not saying Dach cannot be, just that I am not getting that vide watching him play. Do not get me wrong, I absolutely love how he places so far. He makes smart simple passes; he accelerated the breakout that way at least two times. Great positioning, does not cheat without the puck, good vision. That makes him stand out because players at that level are not that well-rounded (his NHL experience shows).

As I said, I love the player.

So, I'll repeat my question: Is there a guy on the team that can dominate like Lafreniere did or is it gonna more "by committee"?

Not sure if this is allowed (apologies if not) not does anyone have a link for a stream for this game? Could they please PM me, I'm having a hard time finding anything...

We need more viewing time before we make that call. One period of exhibition hockey is not enough.

There was some really good back and forth action mid way through the 1st. Teams traded good grade A chances.

I expect them to settle into their games more in the 2nd. Liked the forecheck that lead to a post and some good chances. Need to stay physical and punish their D on the forecheck.

Byfield was flying out there, encouraging to see that from him.

nice touch for the Scotiabank commercial to have a Hip song in it (ahead by a century). Anyways, is Askarov the starter for Russia? just tuning in for second period till Czechs and Slovaks are done.lol

I thought Dach was one of the better players in P1.....

Russia playing more physical than I thought, and same goes for Byfield for us.

His speed at that size is scary.

Is there any streams for the game?
