Does this mean they are starting Hellebuyk against the Czechs in Pittsburgh?

A bit of an odd choice seeing how Gibson is from Pittsburgh and Murray plays for Pittsburgh.

Gostisbehere has really struggled on both nights. Game 1 was a shutout, and they gave up 4 tonight. Trouba was better defensively in the first game than most of the D tonight. He might be the only really physical defenseman they have.

Was Trouba just scratched or was he injured?

Europe actually has a good team, but they played against the tournament's best. Team North America is a great team dare I say better than even Canada in speed and in line chemistry

Yeah I don't know about that. That defense would struggle against Canada and USA imo. Unless they get it together.

IMO Larkin at least deserves a shot at top 6 minutes. He's absolute fire in international competition and made a pretty strong case for it tonight. Try it for a few periods and see what happens.

You'd have to imagine Gibson's relatively poor showing further cements Murray as the #1 goalie for this tournament, no?

He won the Stanley Cup and was a Conn Smythe candidate, there was never a doubt who would be the #1 goalie.

They have an okay team. They also have guys like Luca Sbisa and Pierre Bellemare who most people consider barely NHL players

Larkin was a boss. Putting JT Miller back in and taking Larkin out would be pretty dumb

Not really.

Miller is better defensively, and still is a scoring threat. If the TNA coaching staff wants a bit more in their own end, Miller will probably be subbed in for someone else. Maybe Larkin. Maybe another player.

I can understand why after 80 comments not one person mentions team Europe. Man they were terrible. 5-1 after 15 minutes? I'm glad they at least played hard and while impossible to "make a game of it" they started playing some descent hockey. I'm rooting for them (not just because 3 now play for DRW :help:) but because they need all the help they can get. Just wow. They're supposed to be better.

I don't think anyone looked at that roster and expected them to be better than they have been.

Old and slow.

Bellemare was their best player. 'Nuff said.

You must be a young Millennial?

Guess you missed Gretzky, Lemieux, Roy, Messier, Coffey etc... :D

Surprisingly, there's more people born in the 90's/00's browsing internet forums than those born in the 60's/70's.

No they're not. You're mixing up players of 8 nations where many never played together anywhere while others aren't even that good in the first place you aren't going to get a good team. They gave a little bit of a crap today but this is never a going to be a functional team . I mean the only thing they have to play for is themselves at the end of the day. There's no collective european identity to pull them all together and most players are already established vets that don't having anything left to prove either

They'll play hockey and they'll somewhat try because they're paid for it but don't expect anyone to give his all .

Physical =/= good defensively. I thought Jets fans were the big on that mantra.
