Don Johnson! Kris Kristofferson! Patrick Swayze!

Don Johnson didn't have a ton of film success, just Miami Vice (and I think there was another show in the 90s he was in, but can't remember which). Not aware of Kris Kristofferson having a TV show, and I'm pretty certain Patrick Swayze didn't (not to mention he only recorded one album - managed a hit with She's Like the Wind, which wasn't bad, but it still wasn't a huge career).

But ooo! OOO! Irene Cara....well, actually her TV career was spotty too. As for film, she starred in the Oscar-winning Fame in ;\'81, sang the theme song for it, and also won an Oscar for best original song for Flashdance (What a Feeling) in '83.

Gotta run, can't research this further, late!

David Bowie has all three covered but his music stardom dwarfs his movie career and even more so his TV gigs.

Bette Middler has won some Grammys and Emmys, plus a Tony Award and was twice nominated for an Oscar.

Henry Rollins of Black Flag fame has played a lot of supporting roles in movies and TV series, has done voiceover too.

Of more recent performers, I guess Andy Samberg?

Don Johnson made plenty of movies. Swayze did in fact star in a television show:

Not exactly "triple threats" though....

I think you need to define music--many actors who work on broadway have done Musicals but have never recording a CD or did it in a movie or TV

prime example

Jerry Orbach

yes Lenny Briscoe from Law and Order

he originated one of the Chicago roles

The Beatles
Elvis Presley

Music and film success is well known. Not sure how to rate their TV legacies; their appearances may have been relatively few, but they were hugely significant.

The Beatles did have a made-for-TV movie (Magical Mystery Tour) plus a Saturday morning cartoon show that ran for four years. But mainly there are those appearances on the Ed Sullivan show, which were landmark events for a generation.

Presley's early guest appearances on variety shows were scandalous, his hip gyrations got him the Elvis the Pelvis nickname and one show (Sullivan I believe) censored him with shots only from the waist up. Exemplifies the gap between rock 'n' roll morality and mainstream American morality.

His 1969 "comeback" TV special is legendary, maybe his finest hour, and his 1973 Aloha from Hawaii/Live via Satellite special was groundbreaking for the industry, seen by over a billion people in 40 countries.

Andy Samberg. Killed it on SNL and Brooklyn 99. Headlined big screen movies. The Lonely Planet has some killer songs (on SNL plus) that are Weird Al caliber good. Duet with Justin Timberlake... Dick in a box... Many other hilarious videos. Like a Boss.

Steven Seagal.

You may remember him from his charismatic leads in movies like "Under Siege" and TV shows like "Steven Seagal: Lawman", but the world would also be a poorer place without his timeless swamp blues classic "Alligator Ass".

Patrick Swayze was pretty much a talent at everything he did in career

- Movie Star with long list of hits
- Top 10 hit song (She's like the wind) ,, Turned down offers to expand potential music career to focus on his acting career
- Star in one of TV's most beloved and successful mini-series (North and South)
- Starred in Grease on Broadway in early years as well as working on other shows thru career (Did a run in 2003 and 2006 as well in Chicago and Guys and Dolls)
- Accomplished and professionally trained dancer

And party all the time is a jam.

By the way, is tv really different than movies? I would say no.

A triple threat to me is 3 different talents.

Hugh Laurie might be a borderline candidate

TV is obvious. Golden Globe plus multiple further nominations for House, some other tv-shows, plus quite a bit of comedy back at home (Blackadder, Fry & Laurie). Probably a 9

Music: not a lot, but pretty successful for genre-music
- First LP was no.1 in Austria, no.2 in UK and France, no.1 in US Blues charts. Double platinum in France, Gold in UK and Argentina
- Second LP no.3 in UK, France and Switzerland, no.1 US blues charts. Gold in France, Silver in UK
Maybe 4/5

Movies is where he probably falls short. No big role, mostly support, unless I missed something. Did some voice work as well, but nothing really big.
Tough to put that in numbers, perhaps somewhere between 1 and 3
