this matt grzelcyk on the PP thing is one of the more interesting projects i've seen
in a while. good on gryz, the guy has 7 points in his last 7 games. nice kid, happy
he's doing ok.
Needed a change of scenery Sweeney didn't do him any favors running down that contract.

Most of these talented yet middle lineup guys do.

Another article stemming from that podcast that sheds some light on Wheeler's time as captain in Winnipeg.

Thank you so much for posting this.

Everyone who cares about hockey, and proper leadership, should read it.

I do not know the details, but Zendo Chara struggled in the beginning as captain of the Boston Bruins.

I would like to know more about that.

In the event, I am dealing with some of the same issues at work. It isn't easy.

But good leadership is something you work on.

Thanks again for posting,

M.✌️❄️

Tomorrow’s Globe:

SAVING THE FRANCHISE?

Ullmark has helped Senators reverse course

Ex-Bruin goalie Linus Ullmark has been the NHL’s hottest puck detector the last two weeks, carrying a 7-0-0 streak into Ottawa’s matchup Saturday night in Vancouver.

Ullmark, 31, turned back 203 of 210 shots across the seven W’s and posted a miserly 0.99 GAA (seven goals in 423 minutes).

Cue Bob Lobel: Where do we get players like that?

A five-game winless streak (0-4-1) in the thick of November had the Senators parked just 2 points out of the last spot in the Eastern Conference as of the Thanksgiving mini-break. They owned a lowly .477 points percentage and appeared headed to an eighth consecutive postseason DNQ.

With a December mark of 7-0-1, the distant sons of Alexandre Daigle and Mel Bridgman on Friday morning had possession of the No. 2 wild-card seed in the East and their .563 points percentage ranked No. 7 in the conference.

Ullmark collected 40 wins with the Bruins in 2022-23, tying the all-time club high set by Pete Peeters in 1982-83. Without the salary-cap room to keep both Ullmark and Jeremy Swayman on the payroll, the Bruins shipped the Swedish goaltender to Ottawa in the summer for a package that included Mark Kastelic(their top hitter this season), backup tender Joonas Korpisalo, and the Round 1 pick that the Bruins used to take tallboy center Dean Letourneau.

Despite accumulating some top-end, game-ready talent via the draft, the Senators lost 323 of their 537 games the last seven seasons. They missed on repeated attempts to patch their net ― Matt Murray, Cam Talbot, Korpisalo, and others ― but it now looks like they finally may have their answer in Ullmark.

The games is not on TV in my area so I didn't see exactly what happened but Linus Ullmark tweaked something during the 1st period tonight in Edmonton - he finished the period ( stopping 6 of 7 shots ) but did not return to the game in the 2nd period.
