My hotel is next to the hockey arena here in Dusseldorf and there is a game the last night. Think I'm clear on not being roped into a work dinner. Dusseldorf is the worst team in the DEL but they do have a former Bruin on the squad in Paul Potsma.

So I was looking at Chicago's lineup for tonight's game and noticed that 50% of their forwards are former Bruins. :amazed:

1st line - Nick Foligno
2nd line - Taylor Hall and Tyler Bertuzzi
3rd line - Ryan Donato
4th line - Pat Maroon and Craig Smith

God rest his soul. I remember when he got traded here in '88 IIRC. He played in the playoffs that year and a friend of mine delivered pizzas to him at the hotel. Can't remember for sure but I believe it was at the Hyatt Regency on the Charles in Cambridge. He was pretty lonely there and was IIRC was a scratch for one of the home games and called for a pizza.
My friend delivered it and he asked him if he wanted to hang out to watch the game but he could only stay for a few minutes because he was making deliveries. Wish I could accurately remember the whole story but that's the gist of it.
My buddy said that he was a "nice guy, seemed lonely because he was here in Boston alone" and didn't bring any family along.

Nice seeing Lauzon tonight. I always liked him. There was a decent amount of hype around him pre neck injury in junior and then it kind of quieted down. But he has become a valuable guy for his role. Good for him. I’d like him on the Bruins in place of Peeke today, but I am glad he was picked over Clifton in the expansion draft.

Clifton turned himself into a pretty good player and put in a few good years of service before pricing himself out. And all that said, that was a good non re-sign by the Bruins. Buffalo signed up for too much cap hit and term for what Clifton brings.

Bs should have found a way to keep Heinen. He fit in nicely on the Bs on any line.

Thanks for this interesting daily report!

Pretty easy choice tonight - the " Best Ex-Bruin of the Day " award goes to Garnet Hathaway. Of course - he was the only " Ex-Bruin of the Day " to play on Wednesday.

Garnet Hathaway ( Philadelphia ) 3 SOG and 2 hits.

I love that Hall, Foligno, and Smitty are back together. Three of my recent favorites for various reasons. All seem like decent dudes.

Just wish it was somewhere other than Chicago.

Thanks for keeping up with them, it's kind of fun to see.

That Vancouver vs Chicago game had 8 former Bruins playing - next time they meet it might be 9 if Forbort is back with the Canucks.

Can the Bruins go deep in the playoffs without embracing "dirty" play?

I think about all the cheap shots over the years that derailed their team/their run. Then I think about how Garnett Hathaway was super dirty before he was here and after but a non-factor while he was here and it makes me think the Bruins are trying to be above the dirty play. (Fwiw, I don't mean dirty like stomping on someone's stick, I mean dirty like deliberately trying to injure players in a series.)
