What might the return be for Monahan and Drouin?
Drouin maybe nothing.

Monahan is a possible jackpot. Former 6 OA, only 28. If he stays productive, he might get us a first plus a decent prospect or roster player at the TDL and with retention. The earlier you try to trade Monahan, the harder it will be to find a suitor, though.

I know he was a 3OA in the same year, but I don't think there is much chance that Drouin could be as productive as Monahan is now and might remain.

I have no opinion on Dadonov, except I sense there's a concerted irrational hatred directed towards him, which makes me sympathetic to him until proven otherwise.
I don't think folks hate him. He seems to have lost a step and his zero points in 8 games while making 5 mil is eye opening.

It was worth a try. Had he found a "second souffle" this season he could have been worth something at the deadline. The ship has sailed sadly but still good trade since we wont be tied to any contract next season.

Agree, same would apply to Monahan if he looked like Dadonov.

I would keep him as the 13th or 14th forward rather than send him down. At this point, he's the definition of a substitute.

He won't go. And it's better for Laval to not have a disgruntled vet around. Dadonov gonna be traded for sticks to another NHL org.
He doesn't have a choice to go if he wants to keep getting paid...

If he is disgruntled we are allowed to just send him home, with pay. We did that with BGL.

It's been a hot topic of late with the media. Dadonov being scratched last game and then having two maintenance days. There was also the rumor that Dadonov was seent talking with Hughes after the Blues' game.

Some were saying Dadonov could have been placed on waivers for the purpose to assign him to Laval. However, it will not be the case as the Habs confirmed with the press:

IR incoming to let Edmunston back into the lineup is my guess.

Dads been Bad

Daddy ate all the Halloween candy the whole month of October

Habs are buying time. They must be thinking of a solution, they must be in a long meeting.

Probably no meeting but you are right they are buying time. No need to do anything until one or both of Matheson and Eddy are healthy. Why rush them back?

Maybe a loan to a European team?

He can't be loaned. He's on a one year deal. A loan means you get the player back because he's still under contract next year. If he goes to Europe, he will agree to have his contract terminated and he will go sign in Europe (most likely KHL).

I almost wish he goes on unconditional waivers for the purpose of a contract termination. That means the Habs don't have the excess forwards, they also clear his $5M on the cap.

I think we should run with 2 extra D and one extra forward. Drouin or Pitlick should be the extra forward. Don't send anybody down on D. Not yet. Wait it out for a bit. If Harris and Xhekaj sit a game or two, it's not going to derail their development.

When healthy, there is no room for Dadonov.

Dadonov won't agree for mutual termination. His cap hit is $5M but his salary is $6.5M. Would be a little different if his salary was $2M or less and he could replace that with a contract in Europe.

Criticism for a shit performance is labeled as hate in today's world and feewings get hurt lol. Look back to a week or so ago when Sheldon Keefe had to basically take back what he said about his players because they sucked. To quote angry Michel, "The world is gone soff".

But that would mean he would forfeit the 5M right?

I think he'll end up accepting to be sent to Laval or if he pouts, just asked to stay home with pay.

I think they will send Xhekaj down and Wideman will sit when Matheson is back. Nothing against Xhekaj, at this point he showed that he's not out place in the league, but he's not in our LD top 3 when everyone is healthy.

Xhekaj brings much more than his play.

Other teams respect our stars because they know whats coming if they don't.

Xhekaj must stay.

I'm curious to see what they do but how some of those kids play in the short span might dictate it. Possible other injuries as well.

I'd delay the return of Matheson and Eddy. Make sure they are 100% first.

Nothing wrong with Xhekaj or Harris playing AHL. It's not like they will be stuck there for the entire season.

That would be ideal but he’d have to agree to that. Unless he has that after tax income from another team. It’s a big nut to swallow.

Agreed but if he has to play AHL for a few games, it's not like we are married to that for the rest of the season.

At first, I'd run with 8D and no D gets sent to AHL. Go with that for a week or two and more information will be learned.
