8-0 Frolunda...wtf??

I'm by no means hitting the panic button, as I can't even watch these games at all, so all I can do is scoreboard and stat watch, and watch highlights...but... 12 points in 21 games is just "meh"...

Hopefully the team turns it around, and can figure it out. Again, I'm not watching these games, but I just would have hoped for a bit more production from Raymond. Seems like he hasn't got a point in forever...

Keep in mind, only 3 players in the entire SHL have managed 20 points so far. It's not exactly a shootout type of league.

He'll get there. Plenty of time.

Frölunda is awful. They're barely scoring goals. Shutout 2 of the last 5. Raymond had points in 2 of the 3 games they actually scored goals the last 5.

Next game is against Rögle so Frölunda will probably be destroyed again.

Raymond doesn't worry me because you can tell the skill is there, a lot of the fundamentals are there. The expectations need to be kept in check, I don't think he's an NHL star next season or anything. But give it a few years, he needs to get stronger and faster.

I don't get to watch him a lot, but it seems like Raymond may be trying to do too much on his own. His team's pretty bad and his line's not gelling, so I get it. There are very few guys who can produce at a high level regardless of who they play with...especially for an 18 year old in a pretty good men's league. Put him in a better situation and then let's see what he does.

Should Seider be able to eventually develop a real threat of a point shot?

If I would bet money I think Berglund, Soderblom and Grewe will probably not make the final cut.

I get vibes that the national team likes Soderblom. He was on the original invite list and guys like Grewe and Niederbach were not. I wouldn't be surprised at all if he makes it if he's healthy.

Apparently he was just cleared for full return to training by Frölunda.

2 assists for Berggren in his return.

No points but 4SOG for Veleno.

Seider had a so-so game, one of the weaker I've seen from him so far in SHL. On the other hand he logged tons of icetime, 21+ minutes.

I usually read/post Dobber stuff, they're good, thanks.

My favorite part:

"All this in combination with the fact that Steve Yzerman, a guy who played with Nicklas Lidstrom for years, was the one who drafted him. I know that's an appeal to authority argument, but I believe Yzerman has earned his credibility through his various tenures as GM.
I am as big a fan as Filip Hronek as anyone else, but I think we need to realize that there is a potential superstar on the way, and probably very soon. There is one guy here worth the price of acquiring in a dynasty trade, and it's the guy who hasn't stepped foot on an NHL ice surface yet."

But damn I hope it comes true. If Mo eventually gets even in the ballpark of that level I'll have a favorite player for a long time.

No kidding, 10 games in the SHL and now he's a potential superstar. Yzerman also drafted Koekkoek 10th OA....

I like what I've seen so far but I still think our #1D comes out of this draft.

Seider's excellent post-draft resume extends beyond these recent 10 SHL games...

Re: Seider, just look at the eyeball test. Do you really see a 19yr old future #4? Heck No. Do you see a 19yr old future #2 floor, yes...

For those that don't see it, please see Dr. Rahmani. He's good enough for Pavs, he's good enough for you. :)

(If you were watching any game w/Seider (AHL/SHL) & you didn't know it was him (Seider w/ different # wearing a disguise/beard, whatever it takes), you'd be extremely impressed with most of his game.)

The fact that numerous media professionals in the hockey world are writing about him, along with GM's, players etc. taking notice should tell you a lot. In my mind he's our future Star 1st pairing Dman until proven otherwise.

A few recent plays where he's evaded 2 forecheckers in the Dzone & still came out with the puck, then tape to tape for the breaking F's while making it look easy is pure gold...and he does it every game.

Certainly the second half of the shortened AHL season was much better that the first, and he's making good progress, but geez, it's some amazing amount of hype. Same people/press that hyped up Cholo. (I'm not comparing Seider to Cholo though, Cholo sucked from day 1, I called it.)

I am excited about one thing, getting to watch a player in red hitting someone. I can't remember a single decent hit from last season, the last good one was Bowey on Marchand 2 seasons ago.

We'll se what happens when he gets his 9 NHL games this season. Then we'll be able to get a better judgement. Until then, it's just hype.

It's not "just hype". Your comparison to Cholowski literally holds no water for multiple reasons that I won't get into here.

A couple of factors to consider when looking at what Seider is doing:

- he has changed leagues multiple times and impressed everywhere (DEL, AHL, SHL), these are pro leagues where success have a good translation rate to NHL
- when given the opportunity to play against his peers at the WJC he was absolutely dominant even despite being on a weaker team
- coaches trust him with icetime in a different way than most 18-19 year old players, he's logging over 2 minutes more at ES than any other U20 player in the SHL (guys like Broberg, Björnfot), and is actually 11th in the entire league for ES TOI/GP. You don't instantly become top pairing on the best SHL team if it's all hype.
- the eye test completely backs up any hype for Seider, imo the more you see of him the more you see how consistent he is in all the things that matter (defense, reading the play, outlet passes etc)
- he's got league-best caliber advanced stats so far in SHL
- while his shot and overall offensive ceiling remains the biggest questionmark, he has completely eradicated concerns that he doesn't have offensive ability

Seider isn't a "we need to see 9 NHL games from him" type of prospect. He's a "make him an NHL regular as soon as possible" type of prospect.

Seider had 2nd highest numbers at VO2 max test at draft combine. Natural ability to play high minutes, like it seems all the time how he isn't anyhow exhausted even though playing with high minutes. Like proven data and seeing it on reality. He can log huge minutes like Lidström from day one.
