You must be thinking sign/trade with Rantanen? I think he wants to stay with the Avs but not sure about their cap situation. If Landeskog comes back, they have a problem to deal with but regardless, they would have a problem with $11.6M AAV as well because I bet Rantanen gets close to $12M himself. Avs have room to fit Rantanen in but it gets very complicated if Landekog returns.
Rantanen next contract (if 8 years) is age 29-36. Pettersson is 7 years from age 26-33.

Rantanen wants (and deserves) ~$13-13.5M but Sakic doesn't want to give anyone more than MacK gets ($12.6M). Reports tell Rantanen talks with Avs is "pretty ugly" so they arent close to agreement.
So where is the $13-13.5M coming from? Draisaitl got $14M and they aren't far away from each other role and points wise. Mikko has cup-winning experience though. Both have same agent.
Might be a hot take but I don't see Rantanen playing in Avs next season.
