Hell baby
2024 Playoffs:

Miller, 13 GP, 12 Pts
EP40 13 GP, 6 Pts

One doubled up, the other couldn't take the pressure. Lots can change and I have faith that EP40 can take the next step but it doesn't look like it can be with Miller.
EP40 was playing through injury iirc and can you please refresh me on what his numbers were the prior playoff he participated in? (I believe 18 points in 17 games…)

It’s not even a question on which player is more valuable imo

Just like tonight showed, when JT Miller is on, there’s no player in the league quite like him.

Just a pure power forward, but with amazing playmaking ability.

This is why it’s such a risk trading him especially because he was this good in the playoffs

JT Miller was a monster defensively as well.

Just look at what McDavid said about him

Can someone pls summarize what's the issue between Miller and EP40, I've seen this stuff float for months but it seemed to be rumors/innuendos etc instead of facts. So is there something concrete why they don't like each other?

I don't know how to value these players until I understand what's going on, I'd assume the GMs around the league might be extra careful around these two.

JT Miller likes to scream and bark orders at his teammates like someone made him head coach.
EP40 be like huge *roll eyes* to that.

We know neither are getting traded

Too big of a risk during current Hughes and Demko money contracts

Miller is like MacKinnon, gets on his teammates case a lot if he thinks they aren't working hard enough, but it's also really hypocritical because he's prone to taking shifts off, skating to the bench lazily, and forgetting to back check.

Pettersson is a classic Swedish star, he's quiet, keeps to himself, and isn't interested in the noise.

Presumably, Miller is hard on Pettersson because he thinks he isn't an emotional guy who gets visibly frustrated, so he probably thinks Pettersson doesn't care, but he just does things differently than Miller.

The team is lacking some true veterans, a Kessel type who the team wants to win for, the Tanevs, Schenns, and Coles of the league who keep the room in check.

What would Sabres fans & anyone on here think a trade offer to be of Elias Pettersson + from Vancouver?

Is it true that Pettersson & Dahlin are good friends? If yes, this makes sense, Petey will thrive playing with Dahlin & Thompson etc.

Canucks would want a combo of: either Power or Byram. 1 of: Cozens or Tuch & 1 of: Peterka, Quinn or Kulich & maybe Jokiharju & a pick?

For

E. Pettersson, Hoglander, Desharnais & maybe Boeser!?

I love Boeser but do Not think we should commit 8m on a long term deal. 5-7yrs in 7.5m range. Continue to play with JT & PP1 w/ Hughes.

Canucks add to top 6 depth & top 4 D.

Buffalo gets an elite #1C when he is on his game & could thrive in Buffalo with the change of scenery & Dahlin friendship rumour?

Just spitballing with players from both teams that’s not a concrete offer above just my thoughts…

Avs offer

Casey Mittelstadt
Samuel Girard
Miles Wood

for Elias Pettersson + prospects/picks/roster players

Even though I know this is not a very realistic scenario, I'm interested in hearing if it is close value-wise and what VAN would have to add.

As a result, Avs would elevate Malinski to #4 D and it seems that their bottom 6 would be okay, if Wood wasn't there (currently injured).

A trade with 8 or 9 players, several of them stars and in a cap world, like this will never happen. This is pure fantasy. If Pettersson is dealt, it'll be for a similar aged or younger star type player, another player who makes a fair chunk of change and maybe a draft pick.

You probably need Dahlin and Benson too

Something around Power/Byram+Cozens for Pettersson makes a lot of sense.

If the situation between Pettersson/Miller wasn't already awkward it surely is now that the entire league and fanbase is aware of the rift, not to mention the GM publicly stating he's open for business.

Power/Byram would help take some of the workload off Hughes and Cozens would be a solid 2C option that still has tonnes of upside.

So you just want all of our defensemen? Power is a 1 for 1 for EP or no dice so I would take him out of the equation. It is Byram+Cozens for sure.

I would do 1 of Byram/Cozens and Kulich Joker + 2026 first. Preferably anyways. I really think it settles on Byram+Cozens and maybe a 2026 first.

I meant either Power or Byram, not both. And I'm not a Canucks or Sabres fan, just saying that I see a match from an outsider perspective.

Lol valid point! I think he’s staying…at least that’s what he has said. Loves Vancouver, family loves it, doesn’t want to go. Either way, it was nice to see him have a great game tonight…even though they took the L

That’s one hell of a stat line

I still think Miller is the more consistent player than Pettersson. I don't watch every Canucks game but the games I have seen, Miller is always a threat to score or make a play.

Everyone sees the skill Pettersson has and he's younger. It's easy to peg him as the better asset but Canucks have a team to manage and I would not wish this on anyone. Miller appears to want to be in Vancouver (I agree there) and he has a NMC which makes it a bit more difficult to get the best return. Pettersson's NMC kicks in July I believe so yeah, I can see why the Canucks are open to moving one or the other and would probably move Pettersson if the return is right for their team.

The Petey to Buffalo likely makes sense for both parties and the likely destination for Petey if he’s moved.

Only thing I wonder about is if Pettersson wants to be in Buffalo? They just went through a rough situation with Eichel who wanted out so I think they would want to know if Pettersson is open to Buffalo before they would engage in trading for him. Problem is the Canucks might say, too bad, trade for him or don't... you can't talk to him.

Whoever trades for Pettersson (if traded at all), has to have confidence he wants to be on their team. Because after July 1st, the NMC kicks in and then Pettersson controls his faith. Not impossible to move NMC's but not ideal.
