I mean you can always suggest reasons why a trade won't happen but I'm just saying if one of these team's GMs what like I wanna upgrade my 1C and this is a rare opportunity to do so well these guys would start the conversation.

McTavish could easily be a 2c by next yr. And Anaheim could easily be ready to win by next yr. It's a young league.
You should do your research about eriksson ek! He’s not getting traded ! Lol

It would take one of those players being totally on the outs with their team. Not saying something like that can't happen but nobody is trading players that good for one that is basically an overpriced project.
I think while there are slight concerns with Pettersson, all it would take is a GM realizing that there is a potential franchise cornerstone C available. And they don't come available often. In the worst possible reading of Petey its a small gamble. If you're being realistic about Petey its a slam dunk to trade any of those for Petey. He can score 100 points in this league while playing solid defense. He is like a top 20 asset in the league. Trading these types of guys for him represents buying low on Petey.

No one is. Don't worry. Just making a point in terms of value proposition. Ek is a rare case where his contract is so favorable it prob couldn't happen though. But the level of player is more the point.

This trade would effectively end the Hughes era competitive window. It's a shockingly bad return. An established 1C potential franchise cornerstone for scraps and a pick.

And then who is trading top 6 centerman? Not many teams thats why MIller and Petey might get more than you think. Certainly Petey shouldn't be sold for anything less than a kings ransom.
Ok, that's fair, I am probably overrating the 1st, even if it ends up 5-10 overall. Though, my suggestion was that VAN would use that pick and/or their own 1st for a follow-up cap-leveraging trade to get the C they need, and/or a D upgrade. Perhaps a fair deal would be DET adding Danielson or Kaspar? Again, not to develop them, but flip them.

Another idea: EP has no trade protection, so this would be an amazing potential opportunity for WPG to acquire a top prime-aged C who is locked down. So, like the DET deal, maybe something like this: EP to WPG for Iafallo, Perfetti, Yager, 2025 1st

WPG of course adds because their 1st is much less valuable than DET's. Plus, VAN can keep the NHL-ready Perfetti (probably as a winger).

For both of these trades, here are some suggestions of what VAN's follow-up could look like:

To CBJ: Kaspar + W. Wallinder + DET 1st
To VAN: Provorov + Sillinger + MIN 1st

To PHI: Yager + VAN 1st
To VAN: Frost + Ristolainen + CBJ 2nd ('25)

To SJS: VAN 1st + Desharnais (keeping Kaspar/Danielson/Yager)
To VAN: Granlund

To NYI: Kaspar/Danielson/Yager
To VAN: Romanov +2nd (as a follow up to the SJS deal?)

And many more possible options like 1 or more of these. Hopefully something like that would be possible...

Usually those types of players aren’t traded in “hockey trade” type deals, I agree, but Pettersson is 15th in the league in scoring over the past 3 seasons. He’s certainly been a frustrating player the past 50 games or so, but any team trading for him would be looking at him as a 1C with higher potential than all those guys, not a “project”

But why? Seems pointless to me.
All things equal, Pettersson is a better player than Thompson. He is also a true #1 centre, while Thompson may well be more of a winger. Quinn, at this point, is a throw in.

Trade Power in a separate deal for a centre and move Cozens to wing and you could have a top-6 of Pettersson, Cozens, Tuch, Zucker, Peterka, new centre.

Just my view that value-wise, this is better for the Sabres than Cozens plus Byram or Power.

JT Miller for Mathew Barzal 1 for 1

Miller is the better player but Barzal has the “what if” factor around him if he got out of that defensive system + he’s from BC. Miller would fit the islanders system like a glove.

I don't understand what prevents Pettersson from telling him to f*** off though. If you let them bully you - they sure will
Maybe he has? And then Miller keeps doing it anyway? Like, you think if you tell a bully, "hey stop", their response is going to be, "y'know what, sorry, I will stop"? Get real man.

It was bad enough the team told him to take a month away from the team.

some of these are really odd and they're all terrible returns for pettersson. on what planet is granlund worth a 1st or a player the canucks would target to replace pettersson at centre? why would the canucks make two trades that net them romanov and a 2nd for pettersson? romanov is only 14 months younger than pettersson and hiis upside is pretty established as nowhere near pettersson's tier.

Historically the 3-4 for 1 futures for a star type trades tend to be slam dunk wins for the team's acquiring the star player. Just ask Calgary how the Tkachuk trade has gone for a recent example. And that one almost looked like a slam dunk win for them at the time of the trade.

I understand your idea to move the assets obtained to round out the roster but I think if you make that kind of deal you are throwing away this season simply because you can't make that many changes and expect to be at your best.

If I'm trading Petey it is for top talent. Not spare parts. Miller on the other hand could potentially be had for a strong spare parts style package given his age.

Interesting. Not knocking you for that, just an interesting difference
i feel like they are asking more from minty right now, and more restrictions. I think long term he’s going to be the best of our young dmen.

But I’ve always been very high on minty even prior to ducks drafting him

Well I disagree Thompson >> Cozens even if Tage plays wing he will still be better than Cozens. You can also have a first line winger in Thompson. We need to trade one of Power and Byram and get two top 4 RDs to properly build our defense.

listen to the people talking about it. they love miller but think he goes too far with ep.

it's a culture clash. to a pure zoomer it's just bullying and they can't past that. to many people older it is an acceptable form of tough love inter-generational life coaching that has gone on since the beginning of time, and which often yields positive results, but sometimes goes too far.

growing up i think every dressing room i sat in had variations of miller coaching or as teammates and pretty much every job too. some of those individuals made me a better person. some were complete assholes. there is some overlap between those two.

Isles delcine for a bunch of reasons....Biggest one is Horvat and him don't like each other and I don't want a 32 yr old player who has 6 years left on an 8M per year deal.

We are not in a win now situation. Isles are rebuilding (retooling) with younger talent. Hence why will will be dealing at the TDL Brock Nelson and Parms for Futures.

By telling somebody to f*** off I don't mean it would have to be the kind of generic exchange you presented dude. That means you get in the guy's face and give him a choice to keep acting a fool or they will have to handle the business in the parking lot (obviously not literally but you know what I mean, man to man talk that would probably get physical). Once you fight it out, it gets better, I've been there and know how that goes.

Do they not get along? I am a pretty die hard Canucks fan but I never heard that story.
