Something between Tkachuk and Eichel trades is my guess. I would imagine Canucks would be leaning towards a more ready now return like the Tkachuk trade though.
Yeh the nucks are squarely in compete now mode. Whatever holes they create, they will want filled with something equivalent.

Heres two potential trades to New York teams:

1)

To NYRangers: Pettersson, Silovs, Hoglander, Desharnais, 2028 6th round pick

To Vancouver: Cuyyle, Schneider, Lafreneire, 2025 1st, 2026 3rd, 2027 5th

2)

To NYIslanders: Miller, Hoglander, Kunz

To Vancouver: Dobson, Barzal, 2025 1st, 2026 2nd, 2026 4th

These are both incredibly well thought out. That 2028 6th round pick just balances it out in such a way

I've tried to figure out what's actually the deal with this Pettersson/Miller thing in all previous threads by reading first 3-4 pages and never got a clear answer. Two dudes all of a sudden really don't like each other and there's not a man on the boards to encapsulate the rumored reasons why.

Like even with Hoffman/Karlsson situation everyone pretty much knew not only the reasons but specific events where it all went downhill. But here - just drama. f***in weird.

Miller is hard on his teammates like MacKinnon is, Pettersson is more of a quiet down to business guy.

Theyve always had differences and have always faced questions regarding their relationship but this year its blown up.

End of October theres reporters on hand during a battle drill of some type where Miller calls Pettersson a baby.

Completely off the rails since then.

The fact both players have been struggling and possibly battling injuries all season doesnt help calm things.

Miller fought Mantha game one and may have tweaked a nerve in his neck and would have been super easy to explain as his absence but no, we dont get a specific answer so speculation runs rampant.

Petey says in end of year whatever that he has knee issues all season to which the entire management has said Oh thats news to us. Then has a lackluster start, does get actually injured and now even the bootlickest of reporters are sick of his schtick and throwing him under the bus.

Theres more even still but thats the main points in my opinion.

Bruins are gonna make a blockbuster deal with nucks my gut says it. Remember the cam neely trade.😃

I just made multiple posts in the Van forum mentioning we now have the 25 yr old superstar with a 100 point season under his belt and praying for our own Neely and Wesley before 76 point seasons and a busto.

Also just reminded everyone the Bruins could have had Cam Neely, Jarome Iginla and Milan Lucic among the assets and STILL have Trent Frederic and Andrew Peeke today to show, 39 freaking years later.

Imagine the league elite PF, for each century, for the next 30-40 years all for your Pedey.

EDIT - forgot Trent Frederic so two players today from a trade 39 years ago

Miller should be the odd man out if you ask me. Obviously Miller is the problem in the room dating back to when Horvat was there. I'm not real invested in this but you gotta think his unexplained hiatus for "personal reasons" was actually some sort of discipline that the team wanted to keep quiet.

Congrats in advance to whichever team is on the receiving end of this Petey trade. I feel it's going to be Eichel 2.0.

Im getting Barry Pederson vibes myself.

But even to a more recent, Pavel Bure vibes.

Sure Van didnt win the trade on day one but Bure went on to only play 6 more seasons due to the ailments we knew about beforehand.

Kinda like Peteys wrists and the fact he hasnt really wanted to absolutely rip it since his rookie year..

Kinda like his knee which he says is damaged, and in data like skating speeds and whatnot shows a definite cause for concern for the last year even more..

Or just kinda like his head and mental state. Fifth highest paid player and he has checked out from everywhere.

Plus we dont really know whats hes out for NOW. Could be door #4 and a new thing because we are cursed.

Eichel wants to take over games.

Pettersson has been a passenger for a long time now and maybe has already worn out.

In all seriousness, I feel for Canucks fans.

Hughes was motoring along, the team took strides in the playoffs last year, and then a whole bunch of shit happens at once.

Hopefully this gets resolved one way or another soon, as it’s annoying having to watch your favourite team under this persistent cloud accompanied by ridiculous trade offers.

I don’t, imo it’s Huberdeau 2.0. Guy seems soft, hyper skilled, but doesn’t have the next level in him. I’ll admit I still view him as the guy Matheson manhandled early in his career even though he’s done well since, but all this recent stuff keeps that in the forefront. A softie.

Imo, if Vancouver does this correctly, they could be getting the more solid player back who keep the Nucks competitive.

They haven't liked each other for a long time. There are rumours about that going back years.

It flared up because Miller's conduct was obviously to such a degree the team basically told him to sit at home for a month and think about what he's done (he was out for about a month on a "leave of absence").

Now more stories (notably from former Vancouver teammate Brad Richardson) are coming out about how Miller is a hard teammate and has been particularly hard on Pettersson.

To Boston:
JT Miller
Desharnais or Myers

To Vancouver
Proitas
Carlo
Protected 2025 1st

(and probably a 3rd term for salary retention)

Who says no?

So the salary thing is real. Bruins adding 10-11 millions in cap while only subtracting 4.

I would be countering with:

Coyle, Carlo, Frederic, top 3 protected 2025 1st for Miller and one of the Vancouver RD cap dumps.

Petterson ( 50% retained ) Hoglander

Carlo top4 RHD
Frederic C
Lysell
Bussi
2 - 1rst round picks

The canucks are never going to retain 35 million dollars.

Tomorrow I will either wake up or will not. News at 11.

Positive, I’m up and coffee is great!

Unfortunately the mysterious third option of evolving into a parallel universe overnight that draws all things Canucks, Leafs, Canadiens, and Avs into the void making this place tolerable for everyone else didn’t happen. Sorry all!

To turn this topical, Miller is someone you win with. If you have a strong room vested in just that, he is not a problem. Petterson is a non-serious player. He’d fit in well with what the Hawks are trying to do IMO. Trade both so we can go back to important things like hearing about what will happen to something called Nils Hoglander.
