Heres two potential trades to New York teams:

1)

To NYRangers: Pettersson, Silovs, Hoglander, Desharnais, 2028 6th round pick

To Vancouver: Cuyyle, Schneider, Lafreneire, 2025 1st, 2026 3rd, 2027 5th

2)

To NYIslanders: Miller, Hoglander, Kunz

To Vancouver: Dobson, Barzal, 2025 1st, 2026 2nd, 2026 4th
Ridiculous haul for Canucks. Shame.

I don’t think the isles give up enough here add Sorokin, Eiserman, and 10 more first round picks.

Ugh. I hate every last little bit of this.

In a alternate reality, these guys were the one-two punch at C that could actually push us over the top. We have a Norris Winner, a Vezina Finalist and a variety of wingers and defensive forwards with all the requisite skills required. Granted, the D is sketchy. Though that seemed like the next issue to address.

Alas here we are: a perfect example of how "on paper" means a lot less than "in the room".

I....I'm not sure I care how this plays out. I'd rather keep both, with them having matured from the experience, and take our chances in the playoffs. Though, that appears to be less likely than I care to admit.

I have a genuine preference between the two players. However, i will keep that to myself. Not interested in jinxing it.

However it goes, the Canucks will not "win" the trade. Maybe we get lucky hahaha. Not counting on it, though. I'll watch, cringe and hope for the best.

Ziba for Miller would be done yesterday if zib didn't have an NMC

This is terrible for NYR lmao. Might as well propose routing Vancouver plumbing to end at MSG too, since you want to give us all your shit.
Im just a neutral fan trying to think of even trades that benefit both sides. Remember both teams would need to give up positive assets in a trade of this magnitude, objectively speaking, bub

Might be a good time to point out that Vancouver runs a pretty tight ship and when they actually make a trade it's typically not something people saw coming. There's also the caveat that something could happen as GM's are always talking, but I think Friedman is getting a little carried away here. I mean why would Vancouver trade both players? The chances of that have to be pretty minuscule, just think about it for a minute the talk of the returns and what could happen with one trade isn't exactly flush with #1 replacement centers.

Personally when I look at the makeup of the Canucks lineup and what they may want to fix, there's two 5 on 5 units:

x-Miller-Boeser-Hughes-Hronek
Debrusk-Pettersson-x-Soucy-Myers

Debrusk has helped this season but that's a real lack of quality linemates for the #2 C, whether that be Miller or Pettersson. Ideally you keep both and acquire that much needed dman with other assets which has kind of been the assumption all along, as Willander probably joins the team late in the season and should be a big help. If not, and/or if there's an issue between Pettersson/Miller (which I doubt there is to the point a trade needs to happen), trade one to spread the talent for a more balanced second unit.

Don't forget that both could also be traded. I wish I had the expert insight that Friedman has.

Being an insider is easy in hockey

“Vancouver may make a trade”
(Vancouver media proceeds to eat it up like it is the end of the world)

Friedman knows the media in Canada eats up his slightest thought about a team.

Are you sure that's enough? Seems like both the Rangers and Islanders need to add in their next 15 first round picks too.

If Barzal is going to Vancouver, it's going to be by himself with Vancouver paying through the nose. Not as part of a package for Miller lol.

I’m about to blow your minds…

You’re an owner of a business, one of your employees decides he needs a “mental stress” break and is off work for a month. While he should be at work, he’s shopping, taking the kids to school, catching up on old flicks. Oh and this employee makes 8 million bucks a year!

The Flyers should be all in on Pettersson. They are loaded with young talent, a stud farm, a couple of key vets that are tradable, and a boatload of high picks. They desperately need an elite-level center to play with Michkov for the foreseeable future.

Something massive like: Pettersson to Flyers for...

Torts will be too mean to him.

Bruins need to be on this. McAvoy for ep40?
Bruins fans would be too mean to him.

I would offer perfetti + lambert + 1st for ep
Winnipeg weather would be too mean to him.

In all seriousness, what’s the closest comp to an EP40 trade that we’ve seen?

The Tkachuk trade? A star for star type swap?
