You're just upset the imaginary conversation you made up is ridic..

Devils due diligence is one thing, but you are the one who said "Convo ends right there about the Devils acquiring him" & "he's not trading for him".

And that is false.
So I'm not surprised at your inability to understand lol

In real life it does not work that way and im sad for you if you actually believe it does... in Real life Professional sports franchises do not change/stop decisions based upon young players input/opinions.

These are grown adults, mostly old men with their own egos and ideas, making big money to run multi hundred million dollar operations and win games/cups. A half dozen of them are going to look at JTM playoffs last year, his physicality, faceoffs, and four point game the other week and convince themselves he's just what they need, is going to put them over the top and the change of scenery will fix any personal issues....

And yet no one agrees with you in this thread and others have understood the point I was making in this thread. You're beyond naive if you don't think sports franchises run through franchise athletes now, this isn't the 80's and 90's.

lmao ok kiddo u win the imaginary internet likes battle congrats

That's funny cause I swear that's how Vancouver got into this whole mess in the first place between people picking between Miller's/EP's sides. You're just being dense for the sake of being a contrarian on the internet. If Tom Fitzgerald asked the Hughes brothers about Miller and Quinn told his brothers how shit of a teammate Miller is, Fitz is not trading for Miller. I don't understand how you can't latch onto this concept, it literally applies to the real world as well. Your boss wouldn't hire someone you hated if you were a valued employee in the company because team morale is a legitimate thing in the workplace whether it's a bullshit coffee shop or pro sports. Jack Hughes isn't some top 9 forward that chips in 20 goals a year, he's arguably gonna be the best Devil forward in history while Luke Hughes is on a franchise dman path, so yes their words carry weight when the GM asks their opinion. They f***ing kept Lindy Ruff for a while cause Jack liked him so much.
Do we know that Hughes is Team Petey? Maybe he's not, and he's telling his bro's
"Hell yeah get Miller! Doesn't need his name chanted by the crowd to wake up in the playoffs and he'll still be a warrior by the time I hit FA and sign there"

There is something up with JT personality wise. Not sure what. I notice JT has been in some confrontations with opposition players lately. I saw Filip Forsberg going at it with JT. A Swede like Petey. JT had a fight recently too. JT got traded off the Rangers and Tampa within two or three years. People wonder why the Canucks picked Miller over Horvat. It was controversial at the time. Bo said something about how he would have stayed just recently

I think Hughes and EP were roommates and are pretty close. Doesn’t mean that he doesn’t get along with Miller too though

I think that's exactly what Quinn would tell his brothers if he wanted JT gone, which is why I don't think the devils would enquire about this stuff through his brothers. You just can't be sure about Quinn's motives for telling his brothers stuff

I don't know, to me Nemec sounds like a pretty good piece for Van to get back given the locker room situation , I mean they are in a position of weakness here no?

I think there are a lot of mixed feelings. Hughes is in the middle of his peak years and getting a prospect who might take some time to catch on, is less appealing in that light. But then again, if you’re talking about maximizing the window of Hughes’ peak years, Miller is the guy you keep since he’s been scoring 90 points consistently. So who knows? This thing is all over the place.

If the Canucks took that Palat, Stillman and a 2nd offer, ownership would be looking for new management this summer.

Mercer almost has to be in the deal with NJ, and then you’d see something like Hameenaho, and either a pick that escalates or another prospect they can agree upon.

JT Miller is an elite player in this league, no matter how many Canadians want to ignore it because he’s an arrogant American, or Americans ignore it because he plays in Western Canada, and they rarely see him play since he left Tampa. That 3rd piece could be Stillman, but the Canucks would obviously push for either Nemec or Casey in the trade. Problem is, if they’re going to get one of those two, Mercer should be off the table. Could we see a Mercer/Casey trade? Sure, if NJ thinks Casey won’t produce in the NHL long-term, than why not? He proves everyone wrong at every level though.

Mercer by far, is one of the few players coming back in this trade, who could help fans forget about JT pretty quickly. He’d get the extended opportunities, most feel he needs for his career to kick into high gear.

I still say watch out for the Sens, to somehow convince JT he’s the missing piece. Norris would probably be the best return they could expect anywhere. Ottawa wouldn’t have to add much more, and it is a chance the Canucks are taking, but Norris could explode with a fresh approach. Maybe a Norris/Kleven trade could work.

The Canucks lose this trade 100% if they don’t get a player who’s somewhere around .5 ppg, but everyone knows with the right opportunity and situation there’s a chance he’s a PPG player at some point. Or, they admit they’re gonna reboot a little here, and take the prospect route, with a high end youngster coming back, as the main piece. It’s just not in their DNA to go that route.
Salary alone means Palat is effectively a guarantee to be included. Adding Mercer to that does nothing for NJ. Now you’re subtracting two top-6/9 players and returning Miller. He’s obviously the far superior player, but from a zoomed out roster perspective I don’t see the point.

To your point, the sweetener would have to be one of the Devils top prospects and that makes no sense for a guy with a bad contract on the wrong side of 30.

I don’t see a deal here.

Let's not throw all this in the blender and hope it sticks. Miller wasn't nearly the player in New York he is now, and Tampa didn't necessarily want to move on from him, but it ended up a numbers game. He's a very intense guy in the Blake Wheeler mode and that rubs certain people the wrong way. On the other hand, a lot of people are willing to go to bat for him and believe he's a winner.

That's not to say he doesn't bear some responsibility here for how things are going on the team. The team's a mess and they may end up having to blow it up. The way I see it:

* EP stays. He has some maturing to do, but is the most valuable asset in a vacuum
* Miller is traded to an east coast team in the U.S. The return won't be great
* Boeser is traded
* They work things out with Demko

That's true. He's intense. I didn't mean there is something wrong with His personality. It was JTs wife is the one who wanted to stay in Vancouver as She has an interior design business. I think it will be hard to keep Quinn if Vancouver stays like this.

Canucks will give him a absolutely massive can't say no contract.
He IS the team, He loves vancouver, would be bonkers if he left.

What makes you convinced he wouldn't take less? For the chance to play with both brothers? Regardless it would still be a massive deal. Im just not convinced in Quinns situation it would be about the money....

NJ will probably be in a better position than Vancouver to win then, the taxes are lower in NJ which can make up for the 1 year contract difference, and as much as he likes Vancouver I'm sure he likes his brothers more.

I think he's the type of player that a team that's on the verge of winning the Cup should trade for but get rid of him after a year or 2.
