Well, pretty sure I started by saying the flu is a serious illness. It puts a lot of people thru hell and back. I guess I've seen a lifetime of people off work for 2 days with the flu.
Pretty sure i pointed out that not everybody reacts the same or gets equally ill, you know kind of like the current pandemic were going though some are hit harder than others. This isn't some sort of secret, you can go read up about the flu, there are tons of resourses out there.

There is indeed a lot to read about it, but you won't find much saying it is a 2 day illness.

Typically its 5 to 10 days of ilness with some potential for lingering effects beyond that but can be less in terms of length and severity if you get the shot which about a third of canadians do. Lots of people will pop a couple advil to reduce the fever and go to work sick though, not sure back to work equates to only 2 days of illness.

If you've never caught the flu, more power to you, but i think your assumption that most people who claim to have had it just had a cold is way off base.

While most people recover in 7 to 10 days, severe illness can develop from flu. That is the shitty part.

North America average numbers are 5 to 20% of adults get the flu annually. Not sure what the percentage of that where people need medical assistance to cope with flu.

I don’t ever recall having the flu. Ever. Who knows maybe some people get it lighter than others like COVID19

Usually I get sick a couple of times a year but have been tracing it to seasonal allergies.

Ok, so 5 to 10, with the potential to linger

That's minimum and maximum

It doesn't say with the potential for 2. So when someone misses Tuesday and Wednesday at work, shows up Thursday in reasonable shape and says they had a touch of the flu, in the vast majority of cases I'm saying they didn't, it was a cold.

For too long, "having the flu" has been a general term for being ill during the winter months. The symptoms overlap, but influenza is different than most common cold virus (rhinovirus), which is very different than coronavirus. It's OK to confuse the first 2, but anyone who refers to the coronavirus as another "flu"instantly loses all credibility. It's equivalent to calling your dog a cat.

Side note: No one ever confuses the norovirus. When you have it, you know it.

No, its not min max, its what is typical, some will fight it off faster others slower, hockey games typically have 2 to 5 goals a game, doesnt mean you won't ever see more or less. As i said, it can be less for the 1 third of canadians that get the shot. People also frequently take tylenol or advil to aleviate the symptoms and come back to work feeling better but are often still sick.

Agreed. 100%. This is the point I've been debating with @Micklebot for 2 pages.

Well, the fact that a "stomach flu" doesn't exist is part of it. :)

"I had a terrible flu. I was puking my guts out."

"Yeah, that's not the flu. It's viral gastroenteritis."

"I'm pretty sure it's a stomach flu."

"Whatever."

Yikes, I got it at a resort in Mexico.

On the plus side, symptoms only lasted about 2 days. At first, I thought it was food poisoning, until Mrs_NyQuil got it like 3 days later.

It was the worst body aches I've ever had. Just full body wracking pain to go along with some pretty horrible GI stuff.

No one like Whole Foods at the best of times.

I just like the fact people will be going there for toys while small business go under

I enjoy watching the government make people mad with stupidity

Most people I know bought toys on Amazon like they did last year.

Mrs. Tiggy Winkle's toy stores went under before COVID-19 kicked in. Toys R Us has been in bankruptcy for years.

Small businesses have never had so many allies as when they are used as a prop to justify lifting COVID-19 restrictions.

Before that, they were failing all over the place without much ado.

Where do you think I live?

You're the most privileged person I know. Collecting your CERB money without doing any work. Living the sweet life, as you like to put it.

I'm pleased to help support you with my tax dollars in these trying times. It's my honour to help you and others with my economic assistance.

No need for your thanks and appreciation. I do this as part of my responsibility as a citizen.

live paid my own way... the Ei I’ve been paying to taxes every year of my life.

The government stopped my hours... the restaurant I work at was loaded with people before restrictions

They should be paying me for taking away hours... I paid into it

CERB isn't related to EI. It was the Canadian Emergency Response Benefit that ultimately relied upon the tax base to which I am contributing and you aren't.

Like I said earlier, I don't mind. We all have to pull together.

Everyone needs to rely on someone else from time to time.

It's good to live in a society.

Its good they honoured the agreement of why I pay taxes

it be like me paying for fire insurance on my house having a fire and than the company not paying out. That’s a problem

as far as I’m concerned the government has honoured the agreement we have

Indeed they have, the government that is, honoured the agreement

You seem to be gloating about your benefits

Being appreciative is probably a better play...

I actually wouldn't mind seeing similar measures to what Manitoba did. Going out for essentials means essentials.

https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/mani...rictions-frequently-asked-questions-1.5810750

This would hopefully not be an 8 month restriction. Just enough time to get the infections under control - 2 to 4 weeks.
