My 3 stars from today's game:

1) Semien
2) Borucki
3) Jansen

The whole bullpen came up huge again. And I know my expectations were low from Stripling coming off the injury - I thought he would go 3-ish innings - but nearly getting through 5 was huge because it meant they could save Kay for tomorrow.

Very impressive for this team to be 2 games over .500 at this point of the season given the number of man games lost to injury.

Yah kindve took Borucki to represent them as I think he made the most impact. Though Dolis' 1/3 of dominance kindve stole the show.
Really loving TC too!!!!!

Nothing wrong with erring on the side of caution and pulling a guy who shows signs of another potential injury. Would also explain why Springer didn't look too torn up in the dugout when they showed him.
These guys sure aren't like hockey players....

The average start in MLB in April was only 5 IP. The lowest in April ever. Do you guys think it's good where the game is headed in that regard? Personally, I don't like it. I think it was better when starters could go deeper into games.

Although the trend is going that way, there wasn't a full year last year so teams are being more cautious.

Pitchers seem to be dropping like flies right now so I’m sure everyone is taking extra caution but to answer your question I hate it. Also the bullpen days and stuff like that skews numbers as well.

Lets keep our fingers crossed that this lineup stays together for a prolonged stretch. I am not against playing Springer at DH only for the next month until he is fully healed up. His plate discipline and hard contact is a must in this lineup. Seems to have brought up everyone's game a notch since he started playing.

If only we could get one more capable starter along side Ryu, Matz and Ray. My hope is that Pearson comes back and is lights out. A healthy Pearson, Hatch and Ryu would go a long way with this batting lineup.

Gurriel, Semien and Hernandez are coming around. Very dangerous lineup.

Guys, I think we should just all post about Kyle Hendricks each day and see if we can speak it into existence. who is with me?!

I was the biggest cheerleader for Kyle Hendricks in the offseason but I'd like Pete Walker's stamp of approval before acquiring him after this... rocky start.

We need someone who gives up a longball every 2.5-3 innings?

Me too... I loved the idea of a cost-controlled Hendricks brought over with Bryant. But how ugly would that be looking right now? Ugh. He's only 5 games in, but we're not just talking about signs of regression or something like that... it's been an utter collapse in every way. Whether you look at traditional or advanced stats or his peripherals or whatever, it's been really, really ugly.

I'm not one to overreact to a small sample, and I doubt this is who he is going forward... but there's almost no room for error when you throw 86, so I'm probably a bit more concerned than I would be if he were a "normal" pitcher.
