Lacking absolutely but pretty silly to think they don’t care.

I think they just don't know how to win.

Matthews hasn't won a thing in his life as far as I can tell. No WJC, no club titles etc.

JT I think has WJC and I believe got injured for the Olympic medal. Maybe a WC?

Marner has the OHL / Memorial Cup

I don't think Nylander has won anything really either.

Disputing your erroneous assertion isn't changing the subject, you changing the subject from one player to an entire franchise is.
You didn't dispute anything I said, and I didn't make an erroneous assertion or change the subject. I just pointed out how absurd it was to compare us and our success to a team that had the best player in the history of the game and no cap. I don't know what you're on about, but it's unrelated.

One season has no predictive value in relation to a future season. That isn't how random events work. Professional sports is a series of random events.

if the same things keep happening 8 years in a row that’s proof enough. You can ignore it and blame randomness. Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result.

Sure you did. I pointed out the last cup winners didn't have that best ever player yet still won a cup. You didn't address that at all, dodged it like a champ, and then brought up the ridiculous Red Herring about the Oilers franchise.

I don't think you know what a red herring is lol. The original topic was literally about the Oilers franchise. Post #27. You can't just force people into the conversations you want. I don't care whether the last cup winners had the best ever player. Irrelevant.

It's you who is clueless about the logical fallacies that litter your posts, especially Red Herrings. The thread topic is concerning Leafs seasons and whether they trend the same way or not. A poster mentioned the Oilers and your response was "We'd probably have a bunch of cups too if we had the best player in the history of the game" nothing about the entire team, just Gretzky. I then pointed out the fact the last 5 cup winners didn't have a Gretzky, a direct answer to your post. You then threw out the Red Herring about the Oilers dynasty which had absolutely nothing to do with post. I've explained this fallacy to you several times, if you still don't understand it I'm not sure I can help you.

What the poster actually did was compare us and our success to the 80s Oilers dynasty. What I actually said was "We'd probably have a bunch of cups too if we had the best player in the history of the game and no cap." You seem to have cut that part off. Also missed the "(plus many other great players)". Know who had all those things? The 80s Oilers dynasty. My post was addressing the absurdity of the comparison to the Oilers dynasty, and your statement was unrelated.

Correct
. What I actually said was "We'd probably have a bunch of cups too if we had the best player in the history of the game and no cap."
Yes and I responded with the fact the last 5 Cup winning teams didn't have a Gretzky, something you continue to ignore as it doesn't fit in with your nonsensical narrative. They didn't have an unlimited cap either so not sure why you're worried about including that info.

You added that in later along with the canard about 80's goaltending. Amazing the Cup winners in the last 3 decades. didn't need any of those things. What's your next excuse? The Leafs aren't allowed to wear Cooperalls, the Goalie Equipment is bigger now than the eighties, face shields are now mandatory?

It must be one of those, it couldn't because the Leaf star players underperformed in the playoffs.

Which is irrelevant. That doesn't change that a comparison to the 80s Oilers dynasty is ridiculous.
No claiming the Leafs haven't won a cup because they didn't have Gretzky or an unlimited cap is ridiculous.
Several organizations have done just that.
Not really. Nobody said that teams need all those things to win a cup.
They didn't need Gretzky or an unlimited cap either.

Nobody said that either. Just that "we'd probably have a bunch of cups too if we had the best player in the history of the game and no cap."; noting how silly a comparison to the Oilers dynasty was.
