Man I'm still pissed about that Florida game. Screw off Buttman, NHL refs, and Stuart skinner.

Some day somebody's gonna make you want to turn around and say goodbye. Until then, baby, are you going to let 'em hold you down and make you cry? Don't you know? Don't you know, things can change. Things'll go your way If you hold... on for one more day. Can you hold... on for one more day? Things'll go your way... Hold on for one more day

God I used to love everything about this song:
It's so dated now. Not sure why I kept the handle on these forums. Every other online space I just use my real name.

The 90’s sucked. Nothing good came out of that decade.
Funny story about the 90's.

It's the very last decade with identifiable cultural markers.
Fashion. Music, Film, TV etc.

I've been a Character Artist in video games since 2000. And as someone who's worked in a visual medium professionally for 25 years, it is impossible to "Art Direct" anything that looks like it's from 2000 and beyond (outside of people holding smartphones).

I can make a game, or a film, or a music video look like it took place in the 90's, 80's, 70's, 60's, 50's.

But 2000 and after? There's no music, no fashion, hairstyle, nothing indicating the decade it was from.

The internet killed and homogenized everything, so there's no overarching cultural narrative.

WAY off topic:

Kind of as a thought experiment (kinda for work/ not really), I was shooting shit with other artist friends, dissecting the industrial design motifs of "Obsolete Sony" from the 90's. Shit like their Vaio line, Sony Sport:

Back before they had touch screens, there was a button for literally EVERYTHING and they were all individually labeled:

The visual branding was so interesting and unique. I know that 2000's and beyond it was hyperfocused on sleek minimalism, and more aesthetic curvature and design cleanliness, but there's a certain charm and warmth with these older clunkier technologies that also have a boot of nostalgia where it took shit that used to be the size of a couch and minimized it to be handheld.. It's like the design 'stepping stone' to what we have today.

That’s how I always saw it too. The distinction of the decades disappears with the bland ass 2000s. Interesting to hear it from someone that works in your industry, that can mostly objectively verify it.
