Kane for Tanev. Straight up.

Why isn't Kane worth Tanev?
Why isn't Tanev worth Kane?

Kane's improved his play quite a bit but he has a long way to go to improve his reputation league wide.

General consensus is that D>Wing in terms of value. Tanev has injury issues and Buffalo is strong at right defense with Risto-Bogosian-Franson on the right side when healthy

Tanev isn't the type of D Buffalo really needs. I mean, dude has 5 points. We struggle to score enough already without moving out our best even-strength goal-scorer for a defenseman with 0 offensive upside. We need blue liners who are going to improve our transition game. Tanev is not that guy.

Would like him on the Isles, but off ice issues probably makes snow take a pass.

Isles need to move a D before the expansion draft, maybe De haan+ or Kane with a late round pick for Hamonic?

If he goes to the Isles, then Moulson is going with him, no salary retention either. Then Harmonic might work

Can't take on that much salary unless you take Halak or Grabovski back. they're both off the books after next season.

Murray paid alot for Kane and Lehner. Now both are playing awesome so why would he trade them?

Because he's dead set on ruining this hockey team.

Kane for Tanev is some kind of joke I think. Tanev has 5 points. He's a shot blocker.

Because Taney isn't that good (arguably the most overrated player on this website) and Kane has the potential to score 30 when healthy all year, at least 25 when not healthy, and he's a skilled power forward which is exactly what we need and he isn't going to leave if we don't receive an overpayment.

End of story, this is non-negotiable. Lock these threads up.

Sabres aren't trading Kane unless it is for fair value based on his play and a return that makes our team better. Not worse. If you can't make us an offer that fills both of those stipulations, don't bother.

Tanev faces 10 less shot attempts per 60 minutes than any of Sabres' top 4 defensemen. But sure, he's the shot blocker

I could see him being traded for Brodin or Dumba from the Wild as a reasonable trade.

God no! Even if it was even value wise ( which it isn't), Kane' s 5.25M Cap hit is an absolute non starter. That's over twice Dumba's, and over 1M more than Brodin's. Getting a Kane would not only make the Wild worse now, but would also put our ability to sign Nino or Granlund over the summer in jeopardy. We also wouldn't be able to protect Kane at the ED. Wild can get far better value back for either of those two players.

We get that Kane has a had a good month or two. Pominville has had better. And he is a better, and smarter guy who understands and can work within team concepts.

Bingo! Give the man a prize for pointing out the irrationality of all the Kane and Lehner talk leaving Buffalo. :handclap:

Both are part of the core Murray is building around - whatever personality aspects that the rumor mongers are trying to emphasize as motives for Buffalo trading them, they're secondary to the talents and skills each player has that Murray wanted.

Ad a Sabres fan, I'd like to point that Kane as a part of the core going forward is not what is being stated in circles within Buffalo.

Kane has had a good month or two..and then you bring up 34 year old Pominville

Kane is far better then Pominville is right now and it's not even close. Kane is one of the best power forwards in the game. And like I called earlier I knew someone would post a slanderous untrue statement about Kane. Team concepts? Kane has been an excellent teammate in Buffalo. No issues in the locker room, teammates love him. Find a player who pots 25 goals, positive possession even on bad teams, one of the most physical players in the league who also PKs and can fight with the best of them. And he's 25. Good luck finding more then a handful of players who brings a complete package like Kane does.
