Are the Sabres still in on Nash? if so only then they'll deal Kaner.

I somewhat like Buffalo as a franchise. Acquiring Rick Nash would be the biggest waste of time for them. He doesn't really help much anymore. Has anyone truly watched him play the last year? 7.8 million for the next two years. Let that sink in.

If he isn't disturbing the dressing room, you keep him around, because no one wants to trade anything for him. Myself, I would wonder if you would want a guy like that around possibly influencing young players like Eichel and Reinhart. I would dump the guy in a second....addition by subtraction. He is the Johnny Manziel of the NHL.

I would think that Minnesota wouldn't be a bad place for him. Can't see him affecting the team too much with Suter, Parise, and Koivu around. I know BB likes the big banger type forwards.

Wherever he ends up, it'll probably be his last stop in the league unless something changes in his lifestyle.

There are pending legal results that may limit his movements. If it actually comes to that serving his legalities might be a deciding factor. Suppose he has to do community service, for example. It would be handy if he was employed in the same city.

It is likely that he will skate on any charges but if he can't....

Did not seem to bother ex team mate and now nemesis Dustin Buff, as he had some legal troubles that would have limited his movements across the border, but due to occupation and contract obligations he was given the possibility to do so for serving his sentencing in the summer from his home state.

As others have said Buffalo isn't in a position to move him for peanuts. They're weak at LW and need him for now. Losing him in the expansion draft is possible or potentially trading him next offseason after he potentially regains more value and/or if they believe Nylander is ready to make the jump.
Interesting. Would you guys move Sam Reinhart for a piece or two from winnipeg? Like say Ehlers + tucker poolman or something? Or + a 2nd

Evander needs to be healthy and put up the stats he has the skill to do. Once he does, no one will care about what he does off the ice. Just like that other Kane guy associated with Buffalo.....

Which one of these are people talking about?

It's a very different circumstance and shame on you for not treating it like one. On Patty's case, he had someone try to submit doctored evidence and got to the point where the prosecution dropped the case because the plaintiff couldn't even convince their lawyers, never mind the jury. Evander is on video.

Toronto? Babcock could work wonders for him. Don't think they'd want Matthews being influenced by him but he is a good player when he's serious.

There's little difference in the scenarios. The one instance you mentioned, while simultaneously ignoring the public intoxication and partying, are both examples of the amount of negative news and negative off ice attention that these players have gained in the public. The point is, if I say PATRICK KANE, the immediate thought is GREAT PLAYER, not s**t going on off the ice. If Evander Kane put up sick numbers and played for a winning team, this thread doesn't exist. And that's my point.

Go back and search years back and you're find all the conversation about "Trade Patrick Kane, he's a cancer to his team" no one would consider such a thing now.

No. The price for Reinhart would be something that Jets management wouldn't even entertain, so there's little point in even discussing it.

Kane and Nash have nothing to do with each other.

Nash has to prove something for anyone to take him. If he proves something it would likely involve a retention amount to cover the remainder of the season and apply the same amount to next year thus he would be free for the acquiring team this year.

Kanes stuff is off the ice--not on it.

not happening. this isnt NHL 17 where you can just add players to trade for a star players.

he is pretty much untradeable.

Really? Especially about this time last summer.

Calgary, let Stajan and Giordano discipline him, if he can rw that's even better but I think he's a lw? So play besides Sam Bennett until Thakchuk* comes up, something like Wideman + Hickey + 2nd + a 1st with 40-50% retention on E.Kane?

Yup. I'm talking about an issue in Vancouver, though. Jurisdictions differ but I'm sure you are right and it won't affect his schedule but you never know.

He’ll pinball around a few teams over the next few years before retiring slightly early and being remembered as that guy who no one liked...

But who cares, right? He’s gonna be rolling in millions and that’s ALL that matters lol

Would love him on Calgary.

What about a Giordano for E Kane and Jake McCabe trade?

Gives Sabres a 1D to lead their mass youth movement. Flames fill out the top 6 to help Bennett and Tkachuk, as well as add a good young D. Brodie takes over as our 1D with Dougie as the 2D. McCabe fills into a top 4 position with Wideman/Jokipakka. Flames save a little cap to resign Gaudreau and mid-season flexibility.

is the answer jesus

I'd rather have Reinhart than Laine on this team. 0 interest in trading Sam for a forward.
Yeah as far as team fit is concerned I'd probably rather have Reinhart on the Sabres moving forward, I do think Laine will be one of the best scorers in the league rather quickly though. So in a vaccum I'd say the value is close. Bottom line it would at least be a quality piece for a quality piece, not a collection of lesser assets as Ehlers + would be.

Yeah it'd be tough to say no to that offer. I think Giordano could pull in a pretty significant haul if he were moved, I doubt that offer gets Calgary to pull the trigger.

Even if GMTM doesn't want Kane long term, it would be utterly stupid to trade him at this point. There's every reason to expect Kane to have at least a desent season point wise. Watch him baby sit Kane this season (or at least half a season) and then ship him off for a nice return.
