Buffalo wants to get rid of a problem player, and the dman market is very high right now. Van clears out their defensive logjam and takes on a high risk player in E.Kane hoping a return home straightens him out a bit.

Why the teams do it

Colorado avoids potentially expensive arbitration with Tyson Barrie, and adds a versatile middle six winger, a 4th line RW in Dorsett, a high 2nd from CBJ, a top 4 RD prospect in Brisebois, and a 6th rounder.

Vancouver adds a PMD to their lineup and helps accelerate their "retool"

Kane might have hurt his value, but not Luca Sbisa is the main piece for you bad. No one is that bad, Sbsia has negative value, the guy is terrible at hockey.

Also, lmao at that second proposal, you think teams just give away players?

If the Canucks want Barrie, it'd cost them Horvat. If they wanted Kane, it'd cost them Virtanen ++.


There's another Kane that is also fairly stupid away from the game, this one doesn't even seem that bad compared to the one playing for the Hawks, the Sabres could just wait it out for the news and then see what to do next or they can move him, but it won't mean the team is just going to throw him away.
