Well as we've uncovered, he can't. But if he could, he would do it because he would guarantee him more money and an extra year. But I have been informed that he can't sign an extension until the new year.

I am just saying if you try to one year bridge him to a bigger deal the same year mcdavid's kicks in, it is gonna be 8.5+ minimum,. His agent would likely say "they wont let you walk, sign 1x9 with team x and then they can screw off wit their 1x5.6 or whatever" - that is a reason burke was so mad at lowe lol offer sheets werent used to pry players away cuz you overpay so much in cap it isnt worth it lol it was supposed to be "i am helping my agent bro get his client 1.8 instead of 1.5 cuz bro gm is being stingey" lol

I'm not sure you understand what I was proposing. I was proposing that they sign the 1 year bridge deal and the extension both this summer giving him an extra year and more guaranteed money. I was unaware that you couldn't extend a 1 year contract until January. Which makes sense.
