Value of: Evan Bouchard for Best Available Goalie

I guess we will see. Can’t see the Oilers paying him the AAV he’s likely going to command.
PS, great name.

I take your obese donkey and raise it to a dumb female dog

Depends on how the Oilers exit these playoffs. A couple more games like last night then Bouchard will get what he wants.
A couple more games like game 1 and 2 then Bouchard wouldn't be worth 5M per to Oilers
I can see Bouchard moved for a few reasons.
  1. He's one of the few guys that can actually be traded that would have an impact on the cap and give a very good return, one that could address multiple needs and spread the cap hits more evenly.
  2. He's a prime candidate for an offer sheet.
  3. He's likely to command a Nurse-like contract and I'm not sure the Oilers can absorb another 9m+ contract.
That said, I do think it will have to either be a 3-way or multiple trades (flipping assets).

But then again this is the Oilers, when it looks like they need defense and goaltending, they seems to go after forwards. I think this might be an ownership thing, wanting to recreate the firewagon 80s team.

Add in a goalie from EDM and a D from MTL.

Laine (50% retained)
Xhekaj or Struble or Mailloux
Dobes

for

Bouchard
Pickard or Skinner or Rodrigue

IDK how the value is there, maybe one side is adding futures... but from roster building perspective, I feel that this works better for both teams.
Bouchard scored 82 and 67 points the past two seasons and you think he goes for those pieces? That offer is terrible for one of the top offensive dmen in hockey. On top of it, they’re adding to Bouchard?

It's not my offer. The person I'm quoting made an offer, and I tweaked the roster pieces to take into account Montreal needing to move out a D to bring in another D, and also Edmonton needing to move out a goalie in order to bring in another goalie. That's a framework, not an offer... so any picks or prospects added to the trade I didn't mention.

I'm sure that here would need to be an add for such a good player, yeah. Just wanted to give the other user a framework to work with that is more logical for both teams, because the version they posted resulted with too many D on Montreal and too many goalies on Edmonton.

M.B.A. Swayman for Bouchard fills a need for both teams and salaries might be close. However, Boston will not pay Bouchard, and EDM will not take M.B.A. Sway because of justified fear that he is the next Campbell. Still think it is one to monitor.

If Edmonton goes after a big money goalie signed for 4+ years, it should be Sorokin (who could be available) or one of Hellebuyck Vasilevskiy Thompson Oettinger Saros Binnington (none of which would be available).

I wouldn't gamble on Swayman, Ullmark, Shesterkin, Blackwood, Vejmelka, Daccord, Lankinen, Hill... and most would be unavailable anyways.

During tonight’s broadcast they brought up Bouchards upcoming restricted free agency, and Edmonton has to decide if he is in their future

I was wondering what Edmonton could get in return for Bouchard who is an RFA this summer.

I think he is looking for $70-$80 million and his game leaves a lot to be desired as we have seen when he is without Ekholm
Primeau from Montreal?

I'd give you Saros in a heartbeat. It would also help us with our lack of depth on the right side.

We don’t need to move Bouchard. We just need to get him signed at the right amount. Everyone keeps saying his ask is too high, he won’t be as good away from McDavid/Draisaitl and the PP.

Bouchard is going to have to come down off his ask. If some team want to offer a big contract to steal him away, this time it would make sense to take the picks as it would still take a high hit to make the Oilers walk.

These offers of 30+ year old 3rd pairing D and backup goalies offers won’t cut it

Something around Hellebucyk for Bouchard + except Bouchard is going to get too much $.

Why on earth would the Jets even consider that? Jets laugh as they say hell no.
Pure reactionary - as Helle has imploded for the third playoff season in a row. Bouchards contract status is a no go for the Jets anyway.

After the last two games it looks like Bouchard is going to blow the Oilers cap situation out of the water this summer.

Find a left shot Chris Tanev to play with Bouchard and then he’d appear to be more reliable defensively.
