Value of: Evan Bouchard for Best Available Goalie

Jacob Dobes + Patrick Laine (50% retained 1 year )
for
Bouchard
Add in a goalie from EDM and a D from MTL.

Laine (50% retained)
Xhekaj or Struble or Mailloux
Dobes

for

Bouchard
Pickard or Skinner or Rodrigue

IDK how the value is there, maybe one side is adding futures... but from roster building perspective, I feel that this works better for both teams.

The backup goalie on the 25th ranked team who hasn’t played in the playoffs since 2018 isn’t going to be much better.
He wasn’t the backup. He missed time to injury. He also posted betters numbers than Dostal. Him having not played in the playoffs for several years has nothing to do with how he would perform. It wouldn’t be difficult for another goalie to be better than an .810 save percentage. It doesn’t get much worse than that. But hey, stay riding Skinner. He’s done so well in his playoff history. Lol

Bouchard for woll or stolarz and a d like OEL I guess?

So like woll and McCabe?

During tonight’s broadcast they brought up Bouchards upcoming restricted free agency, and Edmonton has to decide if he is in their future

I was wondering what Edmonton could get in return for Bouchard who is an RFA this summer.

I think he is looking for $70-$80 million and his game leaves a lot to be desired as we have seen when he is without Ekholm

You want Jake Allen?

McCabe and Carlo are probably the most untouchable D, followed by Tanev (age, injuries). OEL and Benoit also have really good cap hits for what they bring. I feel like the only top 6 D the Leafs would move right now would be Rielly, if they were targetting a Werenski / Morrissey / Harley. Probably just no D trades for the next 2 years.

Traded for Noah Dobson in the summer.

The Islanders shouldn't do that.

Dobson has his flaws defensively but even then Bouchard is much shakier and a slower defender.

The only reason Bouchard looked as good as he did last year and also this season is because Ekholm did a lot of heavy lifting defensively and made everyone on that Oilers team better.

With added pressure defensively, Bouchard has struggled mightily.

Dobson has had his woes too, but he'd thrive in Edmonton's system and playing with McDrai.

So again, the Islanders shouldn't trade Dobson for Bouchard.

Bouchard is off the table.

Close thread
He's the most likely core player to be traded in the offseason. More likely than McDavid, Draisaitl, Ekholm, Nurse, Hyman, Hopkins. Maybe even more likely than Kulak, depending who you ask.

Definitely NOT off the table. Especially with the cap hit he's going to have from now on.

He’s a playoff monster. He should be nowhere near on the table. His regular season game is very good but he elevates in the playoffs.

Also the Oilers shouldn’t need to trade a core player to fix their goaltending.

Isn’t Bouchard likely to get a huge contract this summer? Considering his poor defensive awareness is a club going to offer much in trade for a guy in this circumstance?

If a club watched the game last night they surely would.
Bouchard played like a franchise Dman last night. A club would need to be convinced that they can work around or fix Bouchards defensive mistakes.

He will be well over PPG dman in playoffs averaging 23mins TOI for next many years.

I guess we will see. Can’t see the Oilers paying him the AAV he’s likely going to command.

Depends on how the Oilers exit these playoffs. A couple more games like last night then Bouchard will get what he wants.
A couple more games like game 1 and 2 then Bouchard wouldn't be worth 5M per to Oilers
