GDT: Europe vs. Sweden

Great game by Sweden. I thought they would lose by 3 goal margin. And yet here they are, still hanging on, maybe even win? :D

No, just no. I just hope Sweden gets out of this with no more injuries to their players. Preferably tonight so they have time to attend at least part of the training camp. This is just horrendous.

He's a very good player - definitely - but he isn't in the same stratosphere as Karlsson. Karlsson should be playing with Hedman and they should be playing 60% of the game.

This cosch's philosophy today when they got the lead of not playing his best defenseman because he is the weakest defensively of the defenseman is exactly the epitome of flawed hockey thinking. You play the guy who is the best NET goal influencer. The only time this is not the case is if you are dealing with a very small timeframe and just need to sneak out the last few minutes safely.

You can't do that for periods on end.

You see it more than ever in these games. The puck is barely in Swedens end when Karlsson is on the ice!

The best defense ALWAYS is playing with the puck 200 feet from your own net.
 
CBC just talking about non cal on Karlsson throwing the puck. Apparently it should be called "even though we are hoping for drama" :)

I know, it's hilarious. Especially considering how bad nearly every other line that sweden has had.

I can't even imagine how bad sweden would be this tourny without the old ass sedins :laugh::laugh:

Yea I think it is the usual swedish coach mentality where they dont have the balls to bench regular players even if change is possible and needed

Meh in fairness, Babcock gives more ice-time than need be to guys underperforming like Stamkos or guys not as good as others like Getzlaf/Perry. MacLellan was relying on reputation too with the amount of ice-time McDavid/Eichel were getting over Larkin or the MacKinnon-RNH duo.

Well, he has his moments and is overall a very bery good defenseman.
But he also was one of the reasons that opportunity was as dangerous as it was, and hasnt been at his best today
