Oduya to habs. Official. Classic MB move and I wouldn't mind for #5-6
Defencemen. History in Chicago, cup winner, reliable, playoff experience, not too $$$

Dallas can get a decent pick or prospect if they move Oduya at the deadline. He's got cup experience, expiring contract and would be a great pick up for a team wanting to go deep in the playoffs

How many other Dmen are available like Oduya anyways? I'm sure there are some, and things will also change closer to the deadline

what is dallas wanting for Hamhuis from the kings ? would King be of interest? if not counter with something. I have always liked Hamhuis and kings showed interest when he was a ufa twice just got outbid both times.

It's worth pointing out that we want players to go out and not players to come back. Trading Oduya for Jokipakka doesn't fix our underlying problem. And our cups also runeth over with forwards of 4th line or lower caliber. We don't need somebody else's Cracknell or McKenzie. We can take one back if it is a salary issue for you, but worthless NHLers are not centerpieces in Oduya or Hamhuis trades.

I'd be happy with either Johnny Oduya or Dan Hamhuis on the Toronto Maple Leafs. We could use an effective veteran defensive defenseman on our blueline to supplant Matt Hunwick.

Though, I'm not sure either would waive their partial NTC to come to a team that will likely miss the playoffs or if we'd put up as competitive as an offer for these defenseman in contrast to playoff contending teams in desperate need of their service.

I've just always loved Hamhuis.

Fehr for Oduya

People need to realize that moving Oduya would likely be a deadline type deal were we ship out his contract to a contender for futures. Oduya for bottom 6 guys does absolutely nothing and we are better off just keeping him.

Someone who is looking to shore up their D will likely offer a pick+prospect type deal and that makes much more sense for Dallas

With the amount of injuries Buffalo has on defense Oduya could make sense for them.

He turned down 3 years 15 million from Buffalo and signed a 2 year 7.5 million with Dallas, it would suck for him if he was to be traded to Buffalo.

Out of playoffs by Dec -> trade out your rentals.

Good asset management, nothing to see here.

A lot of shooting down of proposals so what is Dallas looking for? Calgary has some decent Goalie prospect depth, some decent winger prospects and D depth. At this point it's really tough to tell where our picks are going to end up, could be lottery or could be middle of the pack.

The main reason we would be interested is to see if we could resign on a decent shortish term contract. He does a lot of work offseason with Kylington and can definitely see him being a great mentor for him in what is hopefully his first NHL season next year.

Most of us are saying to hang onto Oduya and move him at the deadline. The tweet did also say Hamhuis who isn't a rental.

This doesn't fix the problem of having 9 defensemen soon.

If there's any truth to this idea that Hamhuis and Oduya are available, it's because Honka, Nemeth, and Oleksiak need to play, so sending them down/potentially losing the latter 2 to waivers is counterproductive.

Waiting for the deadline makes no sense, move Oduya as soon as he is healthy.

Oduya's return will be in line with the other rentals of his caliber - in other words a second rounder and maybe a bit on top of that. Think Polak, Russell.

Too bad for Dallas Vancity AND Hamuis that Benning mucked up that trade at the TDL last year. Would of benefited all 3 parties IMO

Oduya for a 2nd +.
Hamhuis for a 2nd +.
