I assume most people will catch that that’s not the Sabres’ logo, but, I also assume many will be unfamiliar with Ryan Johnson. He is a defenseman.

I think my favorite one that I've seen is a Florida Panthers - Carolina Hurricanes one where they had the Carolina Panthers logo for Florida, and The U's logo for the Canes. Can't remember if that was ESPN or some random local broadcast somewhere though. The former mixup I've seen multiple times on ESPN though.

If you click Ryan Johnson, it takes you to Ryan Johnson who was born in 1976 and actually played for Chicago Blackhawks.

Does that make it better or worse? I don't know.

I had no idea it got even better. Stunning.i guess that explains why he’s listed as a center

Probably lost to time but will always chuckle when I think of ESPN having a black baseball player's picture on their Curtis Glencross player profile.

That was Manny Ramirez, lol.

I know we’re on a hockey forum but the bolded is funny to read as Ramirez was one of the more recognizeable athletes in his day and most people have no clue who Curtis Glencross is

Maybe it was an intern and they just looked at the Blackhawks' performance the past two years and concluded the most likely explanation was that they kept rolling out almost 50 year old centers to play for them?

Different sport but this is the same ESPN that tried to say Angel Reese was ROTY for the WNBA while Caitlin Clark just got 66 of 67 votes for it.

The real question should be does ESPN know any sport?

That's stupidity.

The NHL stuff is incompetent indifference.
