I assume most people will catch that that’s not the Sabres’ logo, but, I also assume many will be unfamiliar with Ryan Johnson. He is a defenseman.
Says Sabres but it's Blackhawks logoWhat am I looking at here
If you click Ryan Johnson, it takes you to Ryan Johnson who was born in 1976 and actually played for Chicago Blackhawks.
Does that make it better or worse? I don't know.
Probably lost to time but will always chuckle when I think of ESPN having a black baseball player's picture on their Curtis Glencross player profile.
Maybe it was an intern and they just looked at the Blackhawks' performance the past two years and concluded the most likely explanation was that they kept rolling out almost 50 year old centers to play for them?If you click Ryan Johnson, it takes you to Ryan Johnson who was born in 1976 and actually played for Chicago Blackhawks.

That's stupidity.Different sport but this is the same ESPN that tried to say Angel Reese was ROTY for the WNBA while Caitlin Clark just got 66 of 67 votes for it.
The real question should be does ESPN know any sport?
The league doesn't. They have gotten more buzz on ESPN than NBC ever gave them. Remember when NBC used to switch to horse racing right away or how when a playoff game ended and it was right to some random niche sport on OLN/Versus/NBCSN that probably did far lower ratings rather than a post show?i was willing to be lenient but ESPN has covered this league terribly in the new deal. I actually miss NBC.
Reminds me of the NHL on.... OLN./The league doesn't. They have gotten more buzz on ESPN than NBC ever gave them.
